AP

“To be clear, this bill does not legalize prostitution,” Newsom said in a signing message. “It simply revokes provisions of the law that have led to disproportionate harassment of women” and transgender adults, he said, nothing that Black and Latino women are particularly affected.

The loitering law allows police “to criminalize otherwise legal activities like walking, dressing or standing in public,” the ACLU said.

I didn't realize it was legal to dress in public.

I seriously doubt anybody who went to jail for prostitution ever got out and jail helped them decide to quit being a prostitute.

Seems like something of a life decision.

What kind of fricking law takes note of the race of groups of people? What, it's okay for white women to be discriminated against, but they draw the line when POC get the short end of the stick?

How is this not systemic racism?

I just re-read that quote because the quotation mark jumped out at me as being in the wrong spot. Then I noticed the whole line is just a shitshow.

Another nail in the coffin for California cities. Loitering for prostitution wasn’t a serious offense that would result in a prison sentence. Someone would have to be arrested and convicted numerous times before they would face anything more serious than a slap on the wrist.

However, it was a tool the police could use to round up a bunch of street walkers when they were congregating in an area and trashing up a neighborhood.

Hookers walking the street are the lowest of the low. They attract all kinds of nefarious people and illegal activity. Now they no longer have to hide in alleyways or the seedy side of a city. They can flaunt themselves in more visible and nicer areas without fear of being rounded up and sent to jail for the night.

It was bad enough California urban areas have bums taking craps of the sidewalk and addicts shooting up in public parks, now they get to watch a bunch of nasty women and trannies half-dressed shaking their goods wherever they please.

Guess they should only enforce the law when its a white skanklizard selling stank that's affected.
