The board just last week approved a new contract for Chapek

The funny part about that is literally everyone hates him, the people that work with him and even the hardcore liberal groups can't stand him. I guess as long as money comes in the board doesn't care.

Everything they are doing now Is all about making a quick buck. Its not about the family experience anymore.

TBH I thought it had already changed. Splash Mountain is a fun little ride, but the characters are antiquated, in that kids today don't know who they are.

Plus, Princess and the Frog is one of the cutest animated films Disney has ever made. The characters are lovable, and there are moral lessons all over it. Tiana works hard, loves her family, and still finds her prince in the end. I mean, who doesn't love Louis and Ray? They're hilarious.

I say this as a person who has taken her kids to Disney exactly one time. The parks are not my jam.

So I'm MAD [NOT MAD]

Get with the program. They hate all things Black.

They're rebranding a ride, which they've done a billion times before on other rides (40,000 Leagues Under the Sea for example).

40,000 Leagues? That’s twice the book I read growing up!

I think woke stuff is as dumb as the next person, but I kinda like the change. It’ll be Louisiana-themed and should have some cool music. Splash Mountain is my favorite ride there but it’s certainly due for a little refurbish. Their motivation may be dumb but doesn’t mean they didn’t accidentally make a good move.

Only thing I don’t like is the name. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Typical inoffensive milquetoast corporate bullshite. Should have just renamed it (Tiana’s) Bayou Mountain in keeping with it being one of the park’s “mountain” flagship rides (along with space mountain and thunder mountain). What kid is going to be asking their parents if they can go on “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” one more time

If this was required reading, you failed. It wasn't quite 40,000 leagues. Maybe the cliff note version was...

They gave Tiana big thighs. Seems like they went with a stereotype.

Should have named it after Lootie.

I love these Rorschach ink blot type threads that reveal the things that different posters find as important.

I think Disney wanted to use a southern IP to replace sound of the south.

Now I’m from Alabama and have only visited Louisiana bayous. But from what I can tell there isn’t many mountains in them. None that I’ve seen in fact.

“Southern” IP?

Don’t you mean black? And it was a retcon of a German fairytale written and directed by two white guys that had some pretty shitty stereotypes. While the Br’er characters were based on folk tales told by former slaves. Which one is more racist?

Seems like a good decision, Princess and the Frog is a recent property and more people relate to watching it.

Tiana could have had her own ride. Redoing splash is simply a virtue signal.

I get why there is Princess and the Frog hate, but it’s objectively a good movie

I dont Love renaming splash mountain andni hope they retain that name integrated with the new concept.

It’s just a park staple.

The movie is okay. The themes and plot are good. Some okay songs. The characters are trash. Waterboy was less on the nose.
