Some people can’t enjoy anything

We can’t enjoy it because they constantly feel the need to force diversity where it has no place. This story was supposed to be about Obi Wan and it’s the Reva Variety Show

When you get served a shite sandwich, you shouldn’t try to choke it down and enjoy it.

What was woke about Obi Wan? I’m not even sure there was a lesbian couple in it. It was a decent show, but nothing special. I was high on it at first, but now that it’s over I was kind of “meh” at the end
I generally don’t yell about wokeness, but I do recognize it. Your politics (not saying your politics are wrong) probably don’t register “woke” points like it does on the right. It triggers them (us.)
You just recognized that it was an inferior product. The right thinks almost every diversity casting is “woke” thus making it inferior. In reality, it’s probably inferior because of poor casting and writing. The right questions if being diverse lead to the inferiority.

Suit yourself.
I thought that final fight was pretty badass. The only thing I didn't care for was intercutting the bits on Tatooine in the middle of it. Like all the other times that was done in a SW movie, I wish that had just been separated out as it's own scene rather than having it run concurrently w/other threads.

The plot and writing weren't really that bad, but it's the characters and the actors' 3rd and 4th-tier acting skills that ruin it, plus nobody is "memorable" in any way whatsoever with any character quirks or charisma. They all may as well be just a bunch of people who work as cast members at Disney World pulled in from their job as a wrist badge scanner in a ride line and said to: "You look like you can fit into this outfit. Come with me. Here, read this and memorize it."

quote:I'm totally cool with diversity, but for fricks sake, use diverse people with some talent, acting skills, a face worth remembering, and leave the comedy bits to people that it fits with. The Indian guy was just a total fail and his schtick should fit fine in a movie like in Harold and Kumar, not Star Wars. Star Wars Obi Wan series was just not edgy.

The reason Star Wars worked is because all of the characters had flaws, emotions and they flirted with death

What was the purpose for inserting a strong black female into this well known storyline? Did she kill Vader?
Did she deliver OBW as promised?
Did she get any info from Leia?
Was she painted up like an inquisitor? Why not?
Did she kill Luke, and if she did what pain would that bring Vader? He had no clue. Which is why Revas character was useless. The info she got from the force was dormant to OBW, Vader, Leia, Luke, the emperor for 20 years.
So they set her up to be the most powerful, yet OBW and Vader toyed with her

IMO it's not as much forced diversity being the problem, it's casting and writing.
Replace Moses Ingram with Zoe Saldana and the script flips.
Same could be said for several "diverse" characters in Ep. VII-IX, who deliver lines like they're delivering pizza.
Disney blames their lack of creativity on racist white gen-x men.
Amazon (The Expanse) & Apple (Foundation) get it right.

No shite..thats why I'm talking about the fricking prequels.

What used to make Star Wars cool was how controlled and mysterious it was. Now it’s pure money grab and social justice nonsense.
To be fair, Lucas cheapened it long before Disney bought the franchise. Prequels were 110% a cash grab from merchandising opportunities and it was reflected in the piss poor narrative and execution of the films. Most of the set pieces and characters they shoved in there had little to do with creating interesting plot and everything to do with creating as many merchandise avenues as possible.
That Disney ran with that motivation and pumped it full of steroids was pretty predictable. They’ve over saturated the market with Star Wars movies and shows and injected modern politics with all the subtlety of a jackhammer almost entirely to draw in new audience members who might not yet have purchased a metric frickton worth of SW merch.
I like when good storytelling mirrors the world in which it was written but there’s creating a subtle allegory and then there’s simply copy/pasting bullet points off a website into character design and dialogue. If they’re going to take a stance, would it kill them to fricking do it well?

that's the problem.
I could care less that Reva was a woman, or that she was black. that has zero impact on who that character is. She was a terrible actor, and she was written for terribly. I don't recall any of the inquisitors being white males anyway, so it would be dumb to have one. As i said before, it would have been nice if instead of Reva, we would have had an actual Nightsister from Dathomir. They could have then had a spinoff about that sister, and how she came to be since they are supposed to be extinct, and that is a show that could have been really good. Could have shown her get a host body and put her spirit into it, which is what the night sisters were trying to do when Ezra visited the planet and they were trying to take over Sabine and Canaan.
Didn't matter what color Ice Cube Jr was. He was a terrible actor here.
No one complained about whatever her name was that died and for some reason made Obi-Wan said. She was a good enough actor, even though she was still written in pointlessly.
we know they forced their diversity on the show, but had they simply selected good actors and written a good script, and if the script was good you can overcome the bad acting, then it could have been a great show, but these arse hats have no idea what Star Wars is.

It wasn't woke, it was just MEH as you said.
Star Wars shouldn't be "meh", anything meh within this universe is just bad.

Well I mean..
..but does it count if you're not a human being? I think the Pau'an species only come in whiteish color lol
Anyways, seems like promoting other species is progressive.

Reva and MUH DIVERSITY didn’t really bother me
What bothered me was the piss poor drivel they called plot/writing that shite all over the lore and screwed A New Hope over (again)

Casting because of demographics is a form of identity politics. It becomes even more toxic when any criticism of actors is attacked as racist or sexist or homophobic or transphobic.
This is the Star Wars franchise. Actors are going to be criticized by nerds. This is the life purpose of nerds.
Attacking nerds who do this is like calling football fans racist for booing a loss. It just misses the point and demonstrates the person saying these things has suspect motivations and should not be taken seriously.
