Star Wars isn't special anymore. It sustains itself solely off nostalgia from when it was special. It won't be an IP anyone gives a shite about in another 20-30 years.

Had he been forced to make the films like he did in the 70s and 80s, we would have gotten better films.

What was woke about Obi Wan? I’m not even sure there was a lesbian couple in it. It was a decent show, but nothing special. I was high on it at first, but now that it’s over I was kind of “meh” at the end.

SW is practically patient zero for franchising , so you couldn’t be more wrong here. The amount of merchandise sold was astounding for the time.
Even into years after the originals, the Ewok spinoff, the Extended Universe books that were churned out, the video games, the Dark Horse Comics, etc.
After the prequels, they had the Clone Wars, Rebels was in development, etc.
That’s not control, at all.
