Anyone for a Mitchell CJ trade?

I’m sure I’m getting downvoted to hell and back, but who says no?
Mitchell is only 25 and on the exact timeline with BI and the rest of the team. CJ is around the same age as Gobert, 30+
Doubtful they get a much better player than CJ back. Woukd likly have to kick in #8 and extra.
Would break up the family atmosphere somewhat, but to have an entire team just scratching the surface of their peak is very tempting.

How are we going to pay all these people?

I don't have any analytics to back my comment but my eyeballs tell me Mitchell is a piss-poor defender. That should be a deal-breaker.

Why would they want an older player? I’d imagine if they’re losing Mitchell they’d prefer younger/future assets. That team has gotten stale with their current roster anyway that’s getting older and older. They may just blow it up and start over.
I’d imagine if Mitchell goes, so does Rudy. Get picks for a solid draft class next year with young players
Only way you keep that team and trade Mitchell for a vet is for a guy like Kyrie or another star who’s team is struggling with them

Age be damned... CJ in the little time he has been here has done more for NO basketball than almost anyone that has come before him.
He is an advocate for the pels and a pretty influential player in the league.
Yes, the age factor with mitchell is appealing but CJ just gives us much more intangible wise that this team needs

People on here was complaining about CJ taking to many shots wait to you see Mitchell chuck plus dude doesn't even pretend to try on defense.

Like it or not, Mitchell is a tier above CJ on the court. You don’t know bball if you disagree. Plus he’s 5 yrs younger.
Like I said, CJ brings a lot to the team but our ceiling would be a lot higher and for a longer period of time with our core.
CJ also soured me some with his playoff performances. He choked more than a few games. And he will be due a big contract when he is what 32? Same predicament we just went through with Jrue. Much rather pay someone entering their prime than leaving it….

It’s cool. Got bombarded with the downvotes on my stance on the Adams trade and a host of other takes that usually end up being 100% right so….

Mitchell is an offensive improvement but is shite defensively and I’m more inclined to believe the locker room problems with the Jazz are his fault rather than Gobert’s.
If we move CJ for someone, I would at least like it to be for someone who is reasonably good for the locker room or is such a good player we are willing to take a major risk for it.
Mitchell ain’t it IMHO.

You mean like when Gobert played Covid as a joke to the media and touched everything and ended up giving it to the entire team including Mitchell?
Of course he was pissed. Never heard of issues between them before that stunt.
Not sure of your stance but seems like this would throw those pro vax at all costs crew, which is probably the majority on this board, over the edge and not defend Gobert…..

Gobert was an a-hole for that stunt.
But it doesn’t change that Mitchell doesn’t play defense at all then gets pissy when teams figure out how to abuse Gobert in the playoffs when the Jazz effectively only have four men on defense.

Let’s not act like CJ is some kind of defensive savant now. That’s pretty disingenuous.
And that’s partly the problem, hard to win in the modern nba when your 2nd best player is an old school nba center.

Lots of rumors around Mitchell. Ths big 3 teams are the Knicks, Heat and Hawks. Supposedly he is biggest on the Heat and Knicks.
If I'm the Jazz and the Knicks offered Barrett, Toppin, Rose and #11, I'd lean that way. Ainge is trying to fleece someone. Getting Barrett, who the Knicks are calling untouchable, would be the victory he needs to make it seem like he won the trade..

This is where real life basketball differs from 2k. There are some things that CJ has brought to the Pels that overalls, ratings, badges and tiers can't quantify. Legitimacy. Respect. Seriousness. Class. Trading CJ at this juncture would torpedo ALL of the momentum they've built externally, with the league, but more importantly, internally with our players. There are exceptions. If Memphis is offering Ja or Dallas Luka...CJ himself would say pull the trigger on that. But DM ain't the dude to blow all of this goodwill/leverage the Pels have accumulated with this CJ success. It takes a Kawhi/Toronto tier player to make that move.

Mitchell is not the type of guy we need. He would be pissed that he’s coming in here and would be our 3rd best player. He wants the ball in his hands at all times and he wants to shoot as many shots as he can. That just won’t work in our locker room.
CJ has already said he knows his role will change with Zion in the mix and he will be counted on to knock down a lot of catch and shoot 3’s, and he’s excited about that because he hits them at damn near 50%.
You would never hear Mitchell say that.

CJ brings more than just basketball to the team.

To be fair to CJ, he was sick in the last play in game and the first 2 games of the playoff series.
And lngram was so thoroughly destroying every 1 v 1 matchup he got, the Suns just decided to keep a very long, young and no offensive responsibility other than camp in a corner, Bridges, (2nd in Dpoy voting) on CJ pretty much all series.
Also, game 6. CJ was en route to leading us to a game 7 before the officials completely destroyed that game in the 2nd half.
CJ is untradeable in my book. Number 1 he is a very good player. Number 2 he is a good fit with Zion. Number 3 he is an important leader on our team and an ambassador for the Pels nationally and throughout the league. Number 4 CJ has a game that will age well and I think he will potentially even improve playing off of Zion and becoming more of our point guard. He is studying CP3 and picking the brain of Magic Johnson this offseason.
I actually really like D Mitch, but this isn’t a 2k simulator.
You have to take all the human elements into consideration. Trading CJ would probably destroy a lot of positive momentum that this franchise has on and off the floor, in the national media, relationship with Zion, etc.
CJ is arguably the least tradeable player on our team at this very instant. You arguably can’t replace what he is bringing to our franchise.

honestly I don’t think someone like CJ is what ainge will be looking for in a Mitchell trade regardless
there will be a bidding war for Mitchell if he’s put on the block. And I don’t plane those teams for wanting him, he’s a player. We already have our players
