What this rebuttal fails to realize is that all people are sinners, and sinners are included in every institution. The Church is also made up of sinners, and it is precisely why Christians need the gospel of Jesus Christ just as much as non-Christians.

What separates Christians from non-Christians is that Christians have an objective standard to use to identify the sin/evil, and to condemn it as such, as well as a savior that forgives repentant sin.

Leaders in the Church will also be held to a higher standard by God and will be judged harshly for the abuse they inflict on others.

Yes he does and rightfully so.

Utter BS!

Not one person thinks that 100% of the people within a loose organization will be good people.

THE SBC doesn't even hire the pastor for a church. If the First Shoebang Church is a member of the SBC, ShoeBang Baptist does not pick up the phone and say "hey SBC big wigs.... we lost our Pastor... please send us another".

It's not how it works.

They do not own the buildings either.

I didn't respond because I thought that level of stupidity was a one-off.

Glad you liked it, so I can remind you of your stupidity, as you seem to have forgotten your place.

ALL positions of power attract the wrong element, and power tends to corrupt. Churches have this problem, but to say it's at the same level is just lazy and butthurt - something the cliche middle-aged white male atheist with daddy issues would say. Churches have a bent towards goodness; governments have a bent towards evil. Churchgoers (except some black ones, for other reasons) do not accept corruption on a broad scale, or even on a small one. But don't let the facts persuade you from your comfortable, ignorant opinions.

This story was timed as a response to RvW being reportedly on its last legs.

my dad and I are best friends.

I go to church.

I don’t give them any money so I’m not culpable in the corruption on judgement day but still receive the message. I give to people on a personal level so my actions directly affect other individuals instead of hoping it reaches someone who needs it. I make sure it does.

I accept that any large organization is corrupt because that is how human nature works. It doesn’t invalidate any church and I never said it does.

I don’t hide from it. Sorry you don’t see things like I do but I understand your righteous yet sinful tirade and do not hold the same sinful pride and vitriol that is so common in Protestant culture.

Peace be with you brother or sister. May you find peace.

Correct.

We hire the pastor.

He owns no more of the place than I do.

But the bible says to bring it to the alter. 10% is referenced.

I do not condemn, just warn. Your actions are between you and God. You will answer on judgement day as we all will.

I can’t take that seriously with the “Survivor” every sentence. Just call her the victim like we always have.

Why didn't she just kick him in the nuts and have him leave? He didn't threaten violence that I read.

That sounds like a Stacy Abrams novel. And that Preacher needs to decide between leading the Lord’s folk or chasing women. I don’t think one can do both at the same time.

Or I’m being realistic and humble while controlling my own actions and words. I have opinions that many don’t like, but that does not change said opinions.

Believe what you will. I was not attacking anyone, merely pointing out what I see even in my fellow churchgoers when someone is critical of the organization. Always taken as if it is some attack on God or (more common) an attack on the person hearing the observation. Take your pick. I don’t mind.

I mean it when I wish you peace.

And I guess to you it does not matter how much of a lie it was.

Again:

- The local church is not the organization

- There seems to have been no cover up

etc etc etc..

The Church belongs to Christ, not the preachers, pastors, and elders. When the “organization” is attacked, it’s typically an attack on the established order and rule that Christ instituted.

The pastors and elders that are leading the flock astray or abusing the flock should be condemned with ferocity because they are called to be under shepherds of Jesus’ sheep and bride, so when they act more like wolves, they should be condemned and removed from their positions of trust and authority and called to repentance.

However, the attack wasn’t on the abusers alone, but the “organized religion” that includes the good and necessary organization of Christ’s Church. That is where I, at least, have an issue.

That's just it. These people were removed!!!

It's proven in this release they were convicted of the crime even. Reported in the news.

Where is the cover up.
