This is the same as saying "I don't believe in God, I'm just a good person." God's commands aren't up for debate. You either believe and do them, or you don't.

Hear, hear! It's a shame because stories like this detract from actual abuse.

Very true. There are a few categories of stories in this report:

- stories like the Hunt story where the facts don’t match the claims of assault. Gross and requiring local church discipline but a separate issue from assault.

- reports where there was a real problem and there was appropriate action taken.

- reports without enough information to actually pursue (comment submitted on a website without enough detail)

- reports of claimed abuse that were actually suppressed by the church or the EC. This is the biggest problem of course but seems to be a minority of cases. These cases should be reported to the police, and those involved should be disciplined by the local church.

The solutions proposed in this report are just many more layers of bureaucracy in the SBC. There is already far too much bloated useless bureaucracy in the SBC, that has little to do with the local church. The SBC itself has very little impact on the life of the average SBC church.

The SBC, like most mainline denominations, needs to split. True doctrinal believers need to leave the goats to themselves.

Being a member of an SBC church for most of my life, there’s a reason I said the Dallas Baptist mascot should be the hypocrites.
