I live doing this. The fish department is always busy and interesting.

I work in Westchase so I eat off Bellaire a few times a week. It’s a really cool area of town.

But this is all SO far off topic since the topic of the thread had ZERO to do with what makes a place livable , and everything to do with ‘must’ sees while visiting .

Yes Nashville summers are cooler than Florida & TX, but calling it mild is completely foolish. That’s like calling Wisconsin winters mild because they are as cold as Yellowknife, Canada.

Florida is hot as balls wherever your at so idk what good good you are smoking to even say the beaches are magically cooler lol. Yes, there’s people in Florida that do go to the beach every weekend but it’s nothing really special about it once you take the beach away. I’m not trying to hate on Florida, but hating on Houston because it doesn’t have a magical castle landmark to attract tourists is completely stupid because there’s plenty of US cities in the pretty much in the same position that get worshipped.

There are no must-visits in Houston. No Statue of Liberty or Hollywood sign or whatever. But doesn’t mean there isn’t a ton of stuff to do.

Plenty of outdoor things to do. Plenty of great food. Plenty of live entertainment. Plenty of nightlife. Plenty of neighborhoods to explore…just can’t do most of them by foot.

But if OP is in Woodlands, he isn’t in Houston. It’s like asking what is there do in NOLA but I don’t want to leave the Northshore.

Chicago?? Countless things to do in Chicago. Should have left that one off your list.

I like living near Houston and this statement is accurate

The key is to live close enough to be able to drive in to the city for a day trip then go back home to your peaceful confines. Don’t have to mess with traffic, crime and everything else that comes with the city.

Montgomery, Walker or Waller counties. That’s where it’s at my friend.

It depends on what part of Houston. I work at beltway/249 and take 249 all the way to 1488. It really ain’t bad. If I worked deep in the city, I’d probably opt to live west of Katy.

Aside from Museums, theater, major spots franchises across all major sports, sailing Lake Michigan, all walks of life cuisine, culture, vibe, architecture, character, history, neighborhood personalities and festivals, live music, and financial center (commodities), Navy Pier, Michigan Ave, Chicago River, the blues (Kingston Mines, Blue Chicago), Wrigleyville, Randolph St, etc…

Aside from this, Chicago has nothing.

Houston is fn vapid town. Lived it.

Every major large city in the US including Houston has

Museums, theater, major spots franchises all walks of life cuisine live music

You suggested somebody go to Guadalajara and Pappasito’s and are praising the character and charm of other cities

Zero.. there are zero must visits in Houston .. I spent a long time living there, and it’s not a bad place to live, or to start a career- but with the exception of NASA an hour away, there is nothing in Houston to indicate you are there and not in Cleveland or Kansas City or any other generic city.. Say what you want about New Orleans, but at least if youre standing in most places in NOLA (and not dodging bullets)- you would know youre not in any other city….. Hell, when i was in Houston they didnt even have an In n Out Burger yet, to me that would be the only ‘must do’ in Houston now .

Oh good, I was hoping that the stereotypical yat trash would check in for a laugh. Remember to stay off the neutral ground and check your brake tags when you get down from the car to make groceries.

Man, I went a couple weeks ago with my dad. It is important, but you are quite correct that I would not say it's "fun." Total beat down. I don't know how the docents can handle that on a daily basis.

I guess it’s all about perspective. I played golf today and going to shoot clays tomorrow. That sounds like “outdoor activities” to me. Try doing that in Chicago or NY. Regardless of the temperature.

Try…golfing? In New York? Greenwich is right there and has amazing golf. You think golf doesn’t exist in New York or chicago?
