Margaritas …. My mix

The best restaurant margarita in North America is at Nuvolari's in Mandeville.
I've spent a couple of decades taste-testing across the continent.
My home mix is 2 parts Roses Lime, 2 parts Leroux triple sec and 4 parts Cuervo 1800. I get the Contreau / Grand Mariner possibilities, but the above formula is a good, every day Rita.
But something happened. A couple of weeks I had no Triple Sec. Thinking it's just fancy simple syrup, I microwaved two teaspoons of brown sugar in 2 ounces of water for 30 seconds … and I may never use Triple Sec again.
Alternative: Buy Jose Cuervo margarita (not the mix, the bottled margarita). Now, use their margarita like a mix, adding a nice tequila to it (to taste). I find 2 ounces as a floater works well.
And sorry, L Boogie, but the body needs sodium which makes salt on the rim "natural."

Sounds like you enjoy a sugar bomb margarita
I prefer nothing but fresh lime juice, tequila and a tiny squeeze of agave nectar

Seriously this sounds disgusting. There's no good reason not to use actual lime juice in a margarita. Don't have any? Then make something else.

6oz tequila (espolon is my go to)
2oz Lime juice
1oz simple syrup (sometimes I swap it out for agave)
1oz Cointreau (I switched to Drillaud's since it's cheaper and still tastes good)
This is my go to and I love em

2:2:4 ratio?? Why not 1:1:2? It's the same thing.

Best Margarita I've ever had was in Playa del Carmen Mexico. Kiwi Margarita.. Those things were fantastic.
