Naw man, i did one on how this bill is the antithesis of a small government conservative belief system
How is revoking privileges afforded one big business and not others a violation of conservative principles?

there will be no added tax given bc Disney already paid property taxes
How was self-sold ticketing taxation assessed?
Meanwhile, legalities of Reed Creek muni exposure will be daunting. Who will assume the debt?
Odds are the county will catch those, but they also could revert to Disney.
In a situation like this, there is inevitably a large property value reassessment with changes in taxation. To say "there will be no added tax given bc Disney already paid property taxes" is incredibly naive.

These people are acting as though Disney’s rights are somehow being violated.
Disney is a guest in Florida, and is afforded special privileges. They decided that they were bigger than the people of Florida, and the duly elected government revoked those privileges.
Oh, and by the way…you don’t get to wail and gnash teeth over this and still say ‘yeah, it’s no big deal’ like some are trying to do.That’s not how it works.

It doesn’t. Simply another case of Republicans using big gov’t for political purposes. They actually took something that was under a private corporation’s governance and nationalized it. Watching them spin it makes me sad. About like watching them touch themselves over building a border wall.

You groomers sure are taking this loss hard

Now see, that kind of rote stupidity makes me sad.

Lol. Not that Republicans don't do this, but true conservative and libertarian leaning ones don't. Literally all Dems do. And more importantly, what makes you think special tax districts are unconditional?
And as far as using taxation to shape public policy goes, that's the sine qua non of today's Democrat.
Sanctimonious npc.

Didn't a bunch of other special districts get dissolves at the same time? How do you conclude it was all about Disney and not about the right thing to do for the citizens of Florida?

would you be ok if Biden (or any D Gov) targeted the My Pillow guy with legislation?
Is My Pillow guy getting some sort of preferential tax treatment that other businesses/manufacturers aren’t getting?

Disney is grooming kids and their execs are laughing about it.
You hit Disney where it hurts and then they realize shite ain't sweet and maybe they need to cut the shite out before the whole company gets destroyed.

Disney has chosen to take a political position on the Parental Rights in Education bill. This legislation is supported by 52% of Democratic voters as well as Republicans. There is no legitimate reason to teach sex and gender identity to elementary school children. If Disney, which claims to offer family entertainment, is willing to alienate those it claims to serve then why give them any preferential treatment at all.

quote:Correct, which means it's obvious this was done a a political ploy only, and it appears could potentially be costly for taxpayers. Hopefully not, but the regular folks are always the ones who lose in political fighting.
The argument is this is a shot across Disney's bow to stop spewing garbage about a bill they apparently haven't even read.

1) i personally believe DeSantis is doing this for populism reasons and i don’t think policy decisions should be made because they are popular, they should be made because they are well researched and are correct
It is quite literally the job of the elected official to pass legislation based on the wishes of…..and let me get this straight…..THE PEOPLE THAT frickING ELECTED THEM.

they ruled an amendment out of order that would have done that
Not true. The only amendment was voted down in the Florida Senate 16 Yeas and 23 Nays.
And the "amendment" was only calling for a "study". We know how useless a "study" is, it's only a way of delaying things.

I did appreciate his comment of “A Californian headquartered business should not interfere with state laws in Florida”
