30 seconds. Same in football too. If it’s not clear in 30 seconds that the call needs to change, it stands.

I mean, what's so bad now if you were unlucky enough to suffer through the poppycock calls Leo Mazzone's rotation was gifted?
You non Braves fans are so whiny about those days. You all act like the Braves were the only team getting any calls. What you fail to realize is that those guys for the Braves mastered the art of keeping the ball around the plate and throwing it exactly where they wanted to, making pitches appear to be strikes, even when they weren't. That has always been something the best pitchers in the game have done. It just so happened that the Braves had a trio of them on their team.
Did you watch the Braves get robbed by Eric Gregg in the '97 NLCS against the Marlins? It's one of the most infamous performances by an umpire in the history of the game, and yet I bet you've never even heard of it. Because you only watch the Braves if your team is playing them, right? But you know everything about the calls the Braves got, somehow.
Sure, pal.

Heard of it, watched it. You’re suggesting that it was ok that Maddux and Glavine consistently got six inches to a foot off the plate because that game happened? Yes, that staff did a great job of taking advantage of the way the zone was called then, but that doesn’t make it right.

And here, again, is an example of hyperbole and downright dishonesty. These guys never got SIX inches, let alone a foot off the plate. 3-4 inches was the most they ever got, and it was nowhere near consistently that. They would have been unbeatable if that were so. People have a nasty habit of saying that something just off the plate is 4 inches off, to where everything further than that somehow gets multiplied 3 inches for every actual inch off the plate it is. Some of you got your feelings hurt so bad by those Braves teams that you can't even attempt to be objective. How in the world, with all the talent those teams had, did they not win every single World Series in that run, if they were CONSISTENTLY getting "6 inches to a foot off the plate"? If that were remotely true, no one could ever have hit anything they threw. Every game would have been a shut out.
Get a grip on reality, people.

You’re diving into semantics while ignoring the point. Sure, I was exaggerating the actual distance. Doesn’t change the fact that they got a wide zone.

Well, yeah. If the call is wrong for both teams, then what's the complaint? Batters/pitchers can at least adjust to a shitty zone if the ump is consistent with it.
This is so astronomically ignorant, I can’t even comprehend someone’s thought process here lol

Oh, 6 inches wasn't an exaggeration.
If you had said 9", though..

Do you actually accept when an umpire shows up a batter mid-game? How about when he gives the other team a few runs worth of bad calls?

Maybe the people you interacted with.
Umpires that can't get the call right suck regardless and I'd welcome our robot overlords to call the game correctly.

Yeah, I remember when all the Braves fans were blaming Eric Gregg for losing to the Marlins in the 97 NLCS. I was like do y'all forget all the strike calls Maddux and Glavine got that were 6 inches off the plate? I remember the Braves announcers would always justify it with "He's consistently in the same spot, so the ump gives him the call" or "He's a veteran, so he's going to get that call off the plate where a younger pitcher won't".

I remember Ray Lankford, after Cardinals took a 3-1 lead, on why they aren't hitting game 5-7.
"You can't hit balls 7 inches or more off the plate"
It was so bad, that Fox, who was doing the games, pointed out how far outside the pitches were. Umpires got a nice arse chewing after series and into off season.

The Braves outscored them 32-1 in the last three games of that series. Cardinals fans conveniently forget that part of it.
You're like the Colts fans who lost the AFCCG 45-7 and blamed deflated footballs instead of their defense that gave up 250 rushing yards.

uh, the cardinals have drug their nuts on Atlanta as a baseball franchise.

You were talking about the 1996 NLCS and using umpires as an excuse for a series in which you lost the last three games by a combined score of 32-1. If you're blaming umpires for that, then it truly does speak to your unfathomable stupidity.
