They will be removed with a quickness in my city. Cops do their jobs here.

It's a "business" now

Many of these panhandling types aren't actually homeless

My exact opinion. They’re straight up losers. I’m seeing more and more of them in West St. Tammany. I’m emailing my loser councilman about it soon

This. I’ve seen some weird ones in St. Tammany that are obviously not homeless. One was playing an electric violin while his woman was dancing to it in this nice looking dress. It was a totally bizarre scene

You can have nuisance/panhandling laws that don’t infringe on their rights. They will need to be enforced but it’s only a temporary fix as they have become an infestation.

In the end, It truly is a matter of not giving them anything

Even weirder: those people are all faking playing while a recording plays over the speaker. There was a guy faking Senorita by Sean Mendes on accordion in Baton Rouge. Wtf.

My sister saw a fake violinist in Michigan last year. Where are they getting these instruments?

If people would just fking stop giving them money they would quit. Every red light, there’s always someone who hands cash out their window. It’s profitable, so they do it. Convenience store panhandlers are just as bad. There was this one old man asking for money at a RaceTrac. I didn’t give him money but the person behind me did. He immediately walked up to the counter and spent it all on lottery tickets. I guess at least it’s going back to the state.

Yeah, awhile back I went down Siegen and it had been awhile before then and I was caught off guard by the number of those begging bastards they had.

Bottom line. You keep feeding a stray dog that dog will keep coming back. People keep giving to these lazy fricks so they keep going back.

Also, the city or parish.. whatever can claim the beggars are causing traffic problems.. Or that they are a safety hazard and put up signs where they go that says "FOR YOUR SAFETY DO NOT GIVE TO BEGGARS".

If I was a beggar I am not going to go to a location where there is a sign saying don't give to beggars.

They have those signs at I-12 and Sherwood and it doesn't stop them. Someone actually took pictures of a homeless guy removing one of them.

What can legally be done about this? Can we physically remove them from the city? Possibly relocate/bring them to Mississippi?

Obligatory:

They have them at every exit now. At bluebonnet they have either turned the signs around or removed them at all the lights.

I started a thread a year or two ago when I saw the bum shift change in the parking lot of Circle K at Siegen & Industriplex. A cab pulled up, picked up 3 bums and dropped off 3 more. All 3 went into the store and bought cigs/big gulps. Then one went towards the interstate, one went to the intersection at Industriplex, and one stayed at the Circle K. The one at the Circle K had a phone charger and was charging another one’s iPhone (I guess the battery was low).

I will admit that having a ride to the Circle K, an iPhone, and money for cigarettes doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t homeless. They could be living in a tent city or something. But they are definitely organized.

Not on Siegen lane....not even in Louisiana, but today I saw an entire family. Two parents (I'm assuming) and their two kids (again assuming) at a busy corner of a shopping center that included a Publix. This was during school hours, too.

I haven't even noticed them, but they need to put them somewhere they can't be reached.. Or the police could make rounds and run them off.. Or something.. I fail to believe there is nothing that can be done about it.

People need to start throwing firecrackers at them or shoot them with paint ball guns.

Yes I’m a NIMBY

Not wanting a schizophrenic heroin addict missing teeth coming up to your car window after a trip to Total Wine or Target doesn't make you a NIMBY, it makes you a normal member of society who doesn't want to have do deal with that shite, especially with your family in the car.

Preach brother. I’ve felt this way for years. Lock them all up/away. If theyre bat shite crazy, they need to be institutionalized. If they’re addicts, they need to be hospitalized till they are clean. If they’re just fricking losers, send them to jail. They can live there and try to get their shite together. Enough is enough.
