re: How often do you go to New Orleans? (Non Orleans Parish Residents)

I usually have to go through it to go fishing. I don’t ever stop in NOLA though, but if I do, it’s usually for a sporting event. Don’t even care about getting beignets from the French Quarter anymore. Plenty of other places with good beignets

I try to avoid that shithole as much as possible. Luckily for me I haven’t had to even pass through in a while.

Haven't been there since Katrina. Had to get our boat out of Eden Isles, and took some supplies to one of our Katrina houseguests who lives uptown.
I've ordered things from some companies there that were good before Katrina and have managed to stay in business (but three are now gone)..

Metairie may finally get some decent eateries if they can find the real estate.

Only when I absolutely have to be in Nola do I cross the parish line, just the way it is now.

I have been twice in the last month for work, which is average. I have not gone for non-work related in about 3 years. frick that place.

We live about 100 miles away. We’ve been twice in the past 60 days. The first was for a concert at the Arena. We stayed two nights. Had a lovely dinner at Vincent’s one night and decent late lunch at Deanie’s the next day. The second trip was to have dinner with friends. We walked from our hotel on Canal to Luke. No issues whatsoever.
The lack of concern from the NOPD is quite obvious. They look right through the hood rats. It’s obvious that they aren’t in the crime prevention business. We only saw one fistfight. I’m sure location and time of day can affect your experience. We didn’t have any issues, but my head was on a swivel, the same as it would be anywhere. This is not a city to over endulge in intoxicants and stroll around.
It’s still a good city with a lot to offer despite the mayor’s attempts to destroy it. Yes, hotel parking is expensive. I use Spot Hero and book my spot for a fraction of what the hotels charge.

Metairie has better restaurants than y’all give credit for.
Shh. They’re already crowded enough as it is.

Have had to make regular visits over the past several months because of my advanced cancer treatment, but once this is over and I can go back to my normal oncologist I won't see this side of the lake for quite a while. I don't mind coming to the city but it just isn't safe.

Grew up in Acadiana area. Lived all of the US and world. I’ve now lived in New Orleans for about 9 months.
It’s easily the most mismanaged, confusing, 3rd world, hopeless, logistical nightmare of a city. Customer service doesn’t exist. Incredible police shortages. Insanely low pay and prices rising. It feels like a lot of old money here tries to intentionally stagnate any incentives that would attempt to entice large corporations to move here.
Having said that, the city is definitely unique. It’s unlike anything or anywhere else you’ve been. There’s such a feeling here that makes the city cool and sad and timeless and seemingly European; but also a red-headed European step-child city.
One word to sum up NOLA:
Potential

Just about every weekend.

Never anymore.
I don’t even want to use the airport.
Our money is the only way we can make our opinion matter. Fix the crime and corruption and I will spend money there.
Any local who denies or plays down the situation is clearly suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

Every day. I work in New Orleans for both of my "jobs" seven days a week.
She did, I will give her that much credit. When the Virgin Hotel held their grand opening, the manager was glad-handing her, welcoming her to the hotel and the function. The hotel security politely asked "Mrs. Cantrell, do you have your vaccine documentation?"
She didn't.
He made her arse stand on the sidewalk, in July, for five minutes while her entourage went back to the car to find her vax card.

Amazing how quiet she’s been on the Covid issue as of late, and I seriously doubt she took the shot herself.

Every single weekend to enjoy the fine restaurants, and beautiful parks.
Every day for work.
Knock on wood, I have survived generally unscathed thus far.

Never, as long as the present mayor is in office.
