So sad. Seemed like a cool dude. Prayers for his family and friends.

That's a total bummer! RIP good sir, glad I got to see him perform many times over the last 25 years.

I’m not one to mourn those I don’t know. But this sucks. FFs is one of the great rock bands. And they all seem like great dudes based on everything I’ve read and watched.

He's not one that I would have expected to go out early.

Nice tweet:
quote:

Stephen Thomas Erlewine @sterlewine Taylor Hawkins might’ve been the only drummer alive who could support Dave Grohl and not make you wish Grohl was sitting behind the kit.

Have been on a Foo Fighters discography binge this past week. Damn.
Apparently they are in Colombia on tour and he was found dead.

That dude is one of my musical heroes and one of the reasons I ever sat down behind a drum kit to learn.

This is a massive bummer and I hope his wife and kids take solace in knowing the joy and inspiration he brought to millions.

Well that sucks.

One of my favorites.

On his drumming for Alanis Morissette:

Man. Dude was always solid. Was just watching a video the other day where Dave pulled a fan up to play drums to Queen/Bowie's "Under Pressure" (which he nailed) and Taylor sang it.

What a drag. Rip.

frick. I loved this man. Every time he started wailing on the drums and had the hair flying around, I always pictured Animal from the Muppets and it makes my heart happy

Man. that sucks. He was a great drummer and always seemed to be having a blast. I know he was once in a coma and almost died from drugs. Maybe he relapsed or something.

This is terrible. RIP

I know it’s inappropriate to ask so I apologize in advance but how did he die so suddenly?

They were one of the first major acts to tour after Covid first hit. I wanted to see them, but I wasn't vaxed, and this was before I had access to a fake.

I will not mourn someone who "othered" me. RIP in peace, apartheid bro.

RIP!

Badass resume...

quote:

Over the course of his 25-plus-year career, Hawkins recorded and/or played with Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Brian May and Queen, Slash, Pink, Ozzy Osbourne, Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Joe Walsh, Coheed and Cambria, John Fogerty, Glen Campbell, Richard Marx, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Perry Farrell and Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction, and many others. Additionally, he fronted two bands, Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders and the Birds of Satan; led the classic rock cover band Chevy Metal; and had recently formed the supergroup NHC with Jane's Addiction's Dave Navarro and Chris Chaney. He also portrayed Iggy Pop in the 2013 film CBGB.

Hawkins's final performance with the Foo Fighters was at Lollapalooza Argentina on March 20, 2022. Hawkins died just hours before the band was scheduled to play Festival Estéreo in Bogotá. In lieu of that concert, candles were placed onstage Friday to honor Hawkins.

I am in shock that David wasn't the drummer... this whole death thing brings another layer to my woes.

Why does it seem it's always the drummer to die first?
