The trend of maximizing profit in the short term only to not give a frick about the long term has hit its peak. I see the next set of successful companies working the long game again.

I’d bet the additional ad revenue of these fridges is offset by the additional cooling costs from people holding the door open to look for things instead of looking through the door

So, you're panicking over a trend that has little chance of being nationally universal.

When is the next CV19 variant coming around to scare the shite out of you?

If we got rid of all marketing people on earth, the world would be a better place.

I refuse to watch or listen to any of that shite. I damn sure won't buy their product, even if I was intending on it. Maybe if they start seeing a negative return on their bullshite ads, they'll stop it. Too bad so many people are ignorant arse sheep.

What I hate about it is that you can't see if a product is out in the cooler.

So you ope. And search. It is annoying.

Picture of a beautiful well stocked fridge and behind is utter chaos as employees aren’t even guilted into cleaning up the messes when they walk by

The screens, which were developed by the startup Cooler Screens, use a system of motion sensors and cameras to display what's inside the doors —

Maybe it’s NOLA going to NOLA, but I’ve seen this at 2 different Walgreens and both of them had different items in the display than what was actually behind the door. They also both showed fully stocked items, but when you opened the doors they were damn near empty.

Apparently some of Cooler Screens’ own employees don’t even like them.

A step closer? We’re there. They’re just having courtesy at this point to “ask” if we mind sharing our data when they already do it.

Fear? WTF are you talking about?

It's just a cash grab using a faulty and entirely unnecessary system to accomplish what your own eyes and brain can do quicker(e.g. looking into a fricking cooler)

I don’t hit up a convenience store cooler to seek excitement.

That’s highly energy inefficient. You would think the environmentalist crowd would be throwing a hissy fit; However, they get their marching orders on what they are vocally disdainful from their leaders taking bribes from corporate cronies.

Isn’t there a theory similar to the kardashev scale based on the amount of available surfaces on earth that are covered in advertising? Or did I dream that?
