The elevation changes
I think HDTV has shown this aspect better than SDTV. First time I went was late 90’s for a practice round, and I was NOT prepared for the elevation changes. It just didn’t come through in standard def TV. We walked the course twice and were beat. We walked a few holes with David Duval and he came over and talked to us between several shots. Really nice guy.
OP, wear very comfortable shoes.

I just got back to NOLA from Augusta late last night. It was my first time yesterday and I was blown away. We walked about 30k steps and TV doesn't do it justice, especially when it comes to the elevation changes. I saw a lot of elderly people really struggling. The gift shop was an absolute zoo. We had to scope it out for a few minutes and then went back around 3:00 PM when it calmed down a bit (they were out of some merchandise by then). The weather was incredible after it warmed up but it was in the upper 40s in the morning. I hope I get the opportunity to go again and can't imagine how incredible it would be to go for the actual tournament.

My only tournament round experience it was cold and misty most of the day. I dressed appropriately so wasn’t miserable, but it wasn’t the best viewing experience. And it certainly didn’t keep any spectators away. All the popular holes were crowded all day.
Next time I go, I’ll opt for a practice round again.

Today was awesome while it lasted.
Pumped Augusta is giving everyone tickets to next yr if you were here today.

Was supposed to go tomorrow but I had to cancel because of family matter. Looks like it may be bad weather tomorrow. Hope they do the same thing and give us Wednesday next year. It’s my happy place. Glad you got to enjoy it, even if it was only for a few hours

On our way back to BR now. We got about 4 hours at the course yesterday before having to leave. Excited we will get to go again next year.
Highlights of the trip were getting to play East Lake in Atlanta Sunday and Palmetto in Aiken, SC on Monday. Both were incredible experiences. The green complexes at Palmetto were unbelievable. Probably the closest thing to Augusta greens I’ll ever get to play. The history of the place is just so cool as well. Ditto for East Lake. Had really cool caddies that made the day.
Gonna start planning for next year soon.

That is an incredible golf trip.
It would be very difficult to top.

My favorite spot is middle of the green on 9. You can get pretty close to the green there, and watching pros struggling to 2 putt is both sadistic and satisfying.

Thx for sharing
When I go back, I’m definitely playing Palmetto again
Just a mention to those reading this thread, a buddy of mine bought a pass for yesterday off of eBay and it was flagged and revoked
Luckily we know a caddy that was able to pull some strings for him

Not sure if tournament rounds are different, but I had Monday practice round this week and while it says 8am gate open, we got there at 7:15am and the gates were already open. Get there very early and hit the pro shop first to get that out the way.

Yep, we got in line at 6:30 and we’re behind a lot of people. They opened the gates at 7am and we went straight to the gift shop to knock that out.

Just saw your thread here. I too was lucky enough to not only go to the Masters, but also go to Berckman's. Do more than check out Berckman's. Get there early, they have 3 putting greens you can play on with caddies and everything, do that. Eat at least 1 meal there, if you drink them, order an Arnold Palmer, it'll be the best one you have. Someone else mentioned this, but get your gear first, or early on. Save some cash for the Berckmans gear, it is a little different logo. Buy gear then bring it back to Berckmans, they will keep it for you all day. Enjoy it, make a plan, pick the golfers you want to see, and knock it out. It was one of the best experiences of my life, far exceeds expectations.

We arrived in Augusta this afternoon.
Starting Sunday, we’ve played Harbour Town, Heron Point, and Atlantic Dunes in Sea Pines, and Chechessee (love this course) on the way to Augusta today.
We’ll be on the grounds for the next four days, with a detour to Palmetto on a frigid Saturday morning…which kinda sucks.
Happy Masters Week!
