Bring a credit card with no/low balance..if you don't spend $1000 you have no family or friends....the pro shop in Berkman's has different merchandise then what is in the main store at entrance to Masters...not necessarily more expensive but just stuff that's only at Berkman's shop.By the Book about Berkmans Place its a nice book about history of Augusta National Golf Club...

It’s just like the Waste Management tournament, but they let you get more involved with the course.
If it’s hot, cool your feet off in any of the ponds.
Yell as much as you can during play, especially at the par 3s.
Run everywhere.
The best part is you can go to the bathroom behind any tree without getting kicked out.
Interact with the players. Take a couple of tee shots with them. It’s encouraged!

Berckmans place is killer. 5 restaurants with no check to the table
Augusta’s (New Orleans themed restaurant) is the best in Berckmans. Get there early for breakfast then hit the course. Come back later and close the place down

Berkmans- Take advantage of no checks and eat good. You can buy stuff you can’t get anywhere else. Ask your buddy’s what they want before you go so you can share the love (no phones so you can’t call them while you’re there).
Buying Masters shirts….they are cut for older, overweight white dudes. Take stock of sizes for people you want to buy for and have a range. Normally I wear a large shirt but I had to buy medium after trying them on and it was still a little big around the waist.
Crossing over onto the course is surreal. It was like I was in a real life painting (that vivid colors).

Read the book THE MAKING OF THE MASTERS
It will give you a perspective and appreciation you otherwise would not have.

Scream “great shot baw” at somebody and hope we catch it on the telecast

Breathtaking.
That is the word I use to describe going to Augusta National.
I’ve been many times. It is always breathtaking. The course is immaculate.
Every hole is worth the walk. There are so many places where you can watch several shots. I really like the area close to 15 and 16. So much action there. Amen Corner is amazing, but the gallery ropes are well away from the greens. Standing by any green, you can see how difficult it is to get the ball in position to 2 putt. The greens are big, but there are so many features on the greens that a 30 foot putt can be an adventure.
I actually enjoy going to practice rounds more than tournament days. You can bring a camera during practice rounds. Refreshments are reasonably priced unlike stadium food. The staff is so polite and helpful in the shops and on the course. The bathrooms are clean.

If you only have a badge for one day, and you’ve never been to the tournament, I’d only go to Berckman’s briefly at end of day or if there’s a weather delay. If at all.
If you have a 4 day badge or have been many times, then Berckmans has a purpose, but again….if you only have a day and have never been, then don’t waste precious time there. It’s just a new add-on anyway helping the whole thing turn into Disney world.
My strong suggestion would be to spend every single allowable minute on the course instead. In one day, you’re not going to be able to adequately see everything you want or need to see, so dont try to do that. Instead, just walk from beer tent to beer tent (2 beers and a sandwich each time) and soak it all in and just keep moving to new spots. You’ll want to see Amen Corner but you’ll be deep in the crowds when you do, so don’t avoid the front nine especially where it actually feels near empty in spots.
There’s spots where you’ll be waiting in line for beers and in crowds. And there’s spots where there is no line and the place feels near empty. My advice would be find the latter.
Also buy your hats etc at the shop at whichever entrance you use and then check them for free at the stand next door. Then you just pick them up on your way out.

+1. And if you are buying merch for buddies, make sure you make a list and put it in your pocket because you won't have your phone with you to look at the emails or notes you made.

Last thing, be prepared to walk.
Start training now ! Only half joking...
With my knee replacement I can't make that walk any more.
Soak in the memories of a lifetime.

Movement around the course is a little less restricted simply because there are gaps between players.
Many players will skip a golf ball off the pond off the front of 16 tee just for fun.
Watching the players practice to different typical hole locations on different greens is fun. They may face totally away from the hole to get the ball close on a lag putt.
Watching them pitch in the practice area highlights how precise they are.
Players are more relaxed during practice rounds. My brother and I were watching Zach Johnson chipping around 14 green. He walked over to the ropes and talked to us for a few minutes.
If you can avoid Tiger chasers, there are many times where it will be a small group just watching a player or two practice various shots, especially around the greens. During practice you might see some older, non-competing golfers play a few holes. Ian Baker Finch was on the course playing a few years ago when I went.

This is a good perk for practice rounds but remember it is literally cameras only. Your phone is not a camera and is not allowed on practice rounds.

Or, if you're an out of towner, then you can ship them back to your house at an area adjacent to the check stand and gift shop.
It's like Christmas all over again a couple of days after I get home from Augusta.
