Should North LA pay for coastal hurricane power grid repair? Foster Campbell says "NO"

Northern Louisiana's Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell said he will vote against a 15-year surcharge on all Entergy customers to rebuild the company's power grid because it's unfair for those outside the impact zone to pay for the damage.
“If our region suffered less damage, should we be expected to pay the same for storm recovery?” Campbell said.

"The damage inflicted by Hurricane Ida was unprecedented," Entergy Louisiana President Phillip May said last fall.
Campbell said the average Entergy customer would pay $10 a month for 15 years.
Entergy's northern Louisiana grid did suffer significant damage from Hurricane Laura and the historic winter storm, but the other storms didn't cause significant damage in Campbell's district.
"If North Louisiana suffers a storm, it should pay its fair share of the damages," Campbell said. "The question is, what is fair?”
Entergy's request isn't unprecedented.
Northern Louisiana Entergy customers are already paying for past storms including hurricanes Gustav, Ike and Isaac. The largest of those previous surcharges, averaging $5 a month for 2005 hurricanes Katrina and Rita, appeared on Entergy customer bills for a full decade from 2008-2018.

Doesn't most of the state's revenue come from the southern part of the state and that revenue supply a great deal of funding for their part of the state?

I've always said tax the hell out of North Louisiana. Bring it on.

Well, they are more prone to tornadoes lately so...

That’s fine Foster, and when all of us S. LA baws don’t have any infrastructure we’ll all move by you in N. LA

Then secede. North LA offers very little to anyone.

This is why no one likes north Louisiana

My only question is can South LA stay red without everything from Alexandria north? If so, lop that shite off

Foster Campbell is an idiot. When he's right, it's by accident.

How much is Entergy chipping in to fix their power grid

Then just cut off northern louisiana, they shouldnt get any benefits of the major ports like BR, Nola and Lake Charles.
Let them generate all of their own tax revenue.

Fair enough. It’s unfair for the majority of the state’s population to have to pay for North Louisiana problems, yet my tax dollars go there.

Lol North La generates enough revenue to pay for its self which doesn’t take much in the grand scheme and the state puts almost nothing into north la anyway. Without North La the state would flip Democrat in all state wide elections. Which makes sense why y’all in this thread want somebody else to pay for you. The Democratic Party way

I’d love to see North Louisiana try and govern itself with it’s own revenue.

Gov. Abbott isn't going to stand for taxing NETx because of SLA's terrible infrastructure.

I'm sure some of the money I pay to Entergy ends up in N. LA. Storms just don't stop turning after they make landfall.

We definitely don't have the car jackings like South Louisiana.

South La politics have consistently run off businesses that started out of North La and is a large factor in why it is the way it is today (not to mention the entire state for that matter). Entergy isn't even used in the Arklatex area. Not to mention the decades of gas drilled out of North La.
Yet where do all the south La people go to hunt and buy camps?
ETA: hell after checking SWEPCO already has 1/3 of north La. I know many people in CenLa and NorthLa that hate Entergy to begin with so maybe its a good time to let them take more.
