It is really interesting.

JJ fricking hates Griffin. Hates our organization.

JJ is a CAA client, and there has been a lot of chatter about CAA controlling ESPN and the narrative around Zion.

And JJ just absolutely eviscerated Zion. Not our franchise or our city or our fans. Zion. Said he was an absolute shite teammate that doesn't care.

It is...interesting to say the least.

yeah, no hyperbole there, JJ eviscerated Zion. And to say he addressed Zion about all this to the team to his face and nothing changed? what a bum zion is.

A couple of days ago I posted this:

I'm curious if/when the national media really starts cranking up heat on Zion again what happens, b/c this is a ripe story for content. I do not think this situation has ever happened in the NBA and most casual fans don't know anything about it.

Welp, seems like it has begun.

Definitely calls him a detached teammate and calls it poor behavior. Said he basically called him out publicly when he was on the team for not being fully invested in his team, body, prep, and teammates.

Definitely not a ringing endorsement from a guy that basically has had every type of teammate you could ask for in his career to have a unique perspective to commentate on a player's approach and commitment.

Honestly this is the closest I have been to saying frick it, rehab and trade him. But we really get put in a terrible spot because we have built our team and timeline around the presumption of Zion's participation, and absent that, a lot of what we have done in the last year or so becomes problematic.

I really am not going to be surprised if the next things that come out are CAA leaks (Although...JJ is a CAA Client) that spin it towards Zion 's side and him needing a "fresh start" etc.

not only is JJ a CAA client, he's a Duke alum.
conspiracy theorists might say this (today's JJ outburst) is CAA coordinated

The most shocking part is that it is JJ Redick on ESPN, when JJ hates our FO and franchise, and is a CAA client, and has had Zion on his podcast etc.

This is pretty much what I had hoped for..

The narrative for so long was that the Pelicans were an inept franchise who couldn't surround Zion with talent, so why should he bother trying for us?

Now he's got two top-50 players and Jonas, Herb, Nance, etc. around him, so that excuse is shot.

They're finally shining light on the fact that the only real explanation left is that Zion is nearing the end of a 4-year long pouting session because the Pelicans won the lottery.

Let's go down this path:

1) It ratchets up the national attention making things worse
2) It possibly makes the situation between Zion and the team even worse, leading to a breakup
3) It lessens the value to the Pelicans in a trade, making whatever team Zion ends up on better.

CJ, BI, Herb, and JV can make a move very malleable.

We can get a point, we can get a 2, or we can get a 4. All could fit with those 4.

Zion is a guy who could put big/defensive points like Haliburton or Murray on the table. The problem is their current markets/teams.

This was going to be my response to your "CAA" post above.

The only way a big market team can get Zion at this point is at a HUGE discount. The Knicks, Nets, Lakers, Clippers, etc. don't have the assets b/c they've all already sold their souls for the last big move.

JJ looked like he wanted to fight Zion at the end of that clip.

Let's see if he's still singing the same tune after he gets a few texts from step-dad and CAA..

JJ hates Griffin, at least he did (there may have been some mending, who knows)
He definitely doesn't hate the organization, Griff and the org are different. There's Trajan, Swin, etc that I imagine JJ could still have a good relationship with.
I think this is CAA trying to get Zion in line. It might just not be the Pels he has ghosted. Let's not forget Zion's cost CAA a lot of money in the last year and who knows if Zion is flirting with other agencies.

This is going nuclear. Tons of national nba folks starting to comment on it.

JJ did his job, which is stir up controversy and get views on First Take. We do have to remember that.

But it also could all be true at the same time.

Things are only going to get worse from here on out unless something drastic happens with Zion.

Strap in.

IF we're doing conspiracy theories, there's a better shot this one is the one and not CAA orchestrating the JJ move today.

The only thing left for Zion to do is sign on with Klutch and his heel turn will be complete. When JJ takes the Pelicans side against you, you know the situation is fricked.

Technically, they just stole content from here (including your thread from yesterday) so we also have to remember that
