The Biden administration is jumping through hoops, doing anything and everything to get military aid to Ukraine:

bullshite! The Biden administration is jumping through hoops to make it look like it is aiding Ukraine and jumping through hoops to keep from pissing off Russia. My cousin is an aid for Steve Scalise (you know the HOR majority leader) and I asked her if this past weekend if the Biden administration ever presented Johnson, Scalise, and the other republican leadership with a plan for Ukraine to win the war. She just laughed. They don't have one. They are just throwing stuff against the wall. Even the $60 billion in aid is just random things pulled from the list of things Ukraine asked for. When the supplemental aid package is packed Ukraine still is not going to get enough tanks to go on a major offensive. Enough ATACAMs to really hurt Russia, or enough air defense missiles to close it skies to Russian missiles and planes. It will replenish it stockpiles of missiles but no additional Patriot batteries will be heading to Ukraine. Biden's strategy is to delay a Russian victory until after the election. That is it.

I definitely don't "back" Biden, I detest his LGBT and abortion policies, for example. And his Ukraine policy is one of weakness, compounding the weakness demonstrated in Afghanistan.

But I haven't decided whether I will vote for him this year, or whether I will vote 3rd party (which I did in 2016 and 2020). I will not vote for Trump.

LOL. This is a joke. How much jumping was he doing in 2022 when it counted and could have made a difference? He drug his feet when he had bipartisan support to send what was really needed. He instead has drug this out, while putting limitations on western support that severely limited Ukraine at the cost of thousands of Ukrainians.

If Ukraine falls, it will be similar to Afghanistan and Iraq. Billions, if not trillions spent on those examples and for what? Look at Afghanistan and Iraq now.

Biden has never even stated what the strategic plan for Ukraine is. "As long as it takes" is nor a strategic plan. As long as it takes to do what? I bet the Ukrainians grit their teeth when they hear that now.

Biden even sent word for the Ukrainians to stop hitting Russian oil facilities with weapons that were Ukrainian!!! That us absurd.

Imagine how much territory Ukraine could have gained with Himars, Bradleys and Abrams in March 2022, before Russia had a chance to dig in. They would have been trained by fall 2022, and the gun run from Kharkiv could have been to the Russian border.

Well, that is the problem. This isn't about what you feel. It is about facts. Any frustration with the US commitment to Ukraine can only logically point in one direction -> the GOP.

I am just shocked by this! I fully expected someone who works for Scalise to be singing the praises of Biden!

Are you at least open to the idea that the Pentagon feels that sharing its specific plans for Ukraine with members of a party that say these things like this would be counterproductive and likely dangerous:

quote:

Jordan told reporters Wednesday that he was "against" moving forward with an aid package for Ukraine. "The most pressing issue on Americans' minds is not Ukraine," he said. "It is the border situation, and it's crime on the streets. And everybody knows that. So let's address those."

quote:

Jordan and Hern have both consistently voted against Ukraine funding since the war began, and both voted against the $300 million in aid that was separated from the Defense bill last week.

quote:

“A majority of Republicans are against sending more money to Ukraine in the House of Representatives,” Gaetz said, referring to the 117 Republicans who voted against a bill to provide $300 million worth of assistance. “And we have something called the Hastert Rule that would prohibit any speaker from bringing legislation to the floor that doesn't have the support of the majority of the majority.”

HIMARs and Abrams and F16s would not have helped the Ukrainians advance any further than they did. They out ran their supply lines. If we had provided them with a lot of fuel trucks, they might have gotten to the Russian border though.

Ukraine has attack drones with range of over 1,000 kilometers, says Fedorov

by Chris York April 2, 2024 12:19 AM

Ukraine has domestically-produced attack drones capable of flying over 1,000 kilometers, Digital Transformation Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, said in an interview with Welt on April 1.

"Most of the drones that attacked Russian oil refineries have a range of 700 to 1,000 kilometers, but now there are models that can fly over 1000 km," Fedorov said.

Fedorov also said prototype drones with AI technology could appear on the battlefield by the end of 2024.

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree in February to create a new branch of Ukraine's Armed Forces specifically dedicated to drones.

The Unmanned Systems Forces will reportedly focus specifically on improving Ukraine's work with drones, creating special drone-specific units, ramping up training, systemizing their use, increasing production, and pushing innovation.Zelensky said in January that one of the main goals for 2024 was outpacing Russia in the production of drones.

ISW Update

quote:

Key Takeaways:

A joint investigation by 60 Minutes, the Insider, and Der Spiegel strongly suggests that the Kremlin has waged a sustained kinetic campaign directly targeting US government personnel both in the United States and internationally for a decade, with the likely objective of physically incapacitating US government personnel.

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is intensifying efforts to falsely implicate Ukraine in the March 22 Crocus City Hall terrorist attack while denying any Islamic State (IS) responsibility or involvement in the attack.

Russian authorities are taking measures to further crack down against migrant communities in Russia following the Crocus City Hall attack.

Russian forces recently made confirmed advances near Avdiivka and in the east (left) bank of Kherson Oblast amid continued positional engagements along the entire line of contact on April 1.

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) continues to reassure the Russian public that Russian military conscripts will not deploy to most of occupied Ukraine nor participate in combat operations in Ukraine amid the start of the spring semi-annual military conscription call-up that started on April 1.

ETA here is what they have on the terrorist attack

quote:

The SVR baselessly claimed on April 1 that the United States is attempting to cover up Ukraine’s alleged responsibility for the Crocus City Hall attack, including by blaming the attack on the Islamic State’s Afghan branch IS-Khorasan (IS-K).[7] The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) recently demanded that Ukrainian authorities arrest and extradite people allegedly involved in the Crocus City Hall attack and a wider set of alleged “terrorist” attacks in Russia.[8] ISW continues to assess with high confidence that IS conducted the Crocus City Hall attack and has yet to observe independent reporting or evidence to suggest that an actor other than IS was responsible for or aided the attack.[9] The Kremlin likely intends to capitalize on domestic fear and anger about the attack and hopes that perceptions of Ukrainian and Western involvement in the Crocus City Hall attack and wider alleged “terrorist” attacks in Russia will increase Russian domestic support for the war in Ukraine.[10]

Reuters reported on April 1 that Iran warned Russia about a possible “major terrorist operation” at an unspecified date prior to the Crocus City Hall attack, according to “three sources familiar with the matter.”[11] Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov and Russian Presidential Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov denied the report that Iran warned Russia of a terrorist attack.[12] The Russian government will likely continue to deny any reports that the Kremlin received a warning of a potential terrorist attack before the Crocus City Hall attack to deflect blame from Russia’s law enforcement and intelligence failure and divert accusations towards Ukraine.

The Russian MFA announced on April 1 that it is working to remove the Taliban’s status as a designated terrorist organization in Russia and announced that Russia invited the Taliban to participate in the May 14-19 Russia-Islamic World Forum in Kazan, Tatarstan Republic.[13] The Kremlin’s hyper fixation on pinning the blame for the attack on Ukraine, as opposed to addressing very real and necessary terrorist threats, will likely continue to pose a security threat to Russia in the long term.

Bloomberg: Russia plans reduction in diesel exports due to drone attacks

by Elsa Court and The Kyiv Independent news desk April 1, 2024 11:31 PM

Russia is planning to reduce diesel exports from its Black and Baltic Sea ports in April to the lowest level in five months due to Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries and the upcoming maintenance season, Bloomberg reported on April 1.

Fossil fuels are the primary drivers of the Russian economy and the main source of revenue for the Kremlin's war machine. Despite Western sanctions, Russia still provides oil and gas to other countries around the world, primarily India and China.

Over the last months, Ukraine has carried out increasingly regular attacks on Russian oil refineries with long-range drones.

An attack on March 17 targeted a dozen Russian oil refineries amounting to about 12% of Russia's oil-processing capacity, according to Bloomberg.

Industry data suggests diesel exports will fall to around 2.29 million metric tonnes in April, Bloomberg said, citing industry data.

"That equates to just over 569,000 barrels a day, down 21% compared with actual daily exports of about 724,000 barrels from the same ports in March," Bloomberg said.

The Hastert rule is an informal Republican policy. It has no legal authority. Speakers have broken in the past and Johnson can break it if he wants to. Gaetz knows this. He may be ignorant, but he's not that ignorant.

Well if we give them this , well if we had given them that, do you honestly hear yourselves?

We are paying the pensions of their people, are you kidding me?

We are paying for their civil servants to run the govt.

We have sent them every weapon known to mankind.

We have sent them billions in kickbacks.

They have proceeded to lose 25% of their country and over 10 million people have fled the country versus staying to watch this clusterfk.

We could have given the same support to Quitman Mississippi and I dare say they would have made more progress than these idiots who are more concerned about what they can steal versus some nonsense about sovereignty.

Its over, the laundromat is closed, on to the next mess.
