The left wants more government

They actively censor the conservatives

They want high taxes

They support government mandates but defund police?

For open borders and abortions..and government sponsored HC.. hmmm

Trudeau is being very authoritarian...and he is a leftist

Fascism...can be left or right...? Right?

But the left to me seems most comfortable with trusting big daddy government...in total control.

you accuse your enemy of what you are doing, so they don't look at what you are doing.

Because the left didn't want to be connected to Hitler. That is the truth.

Facism is right wing. It is authoritarianism for the purpose of helping oligarchs and the political class (usually the military class, too). That is right wing by definition.

Left wing authoritarianism is generally cloaked in concern for the proletariat, which always suffers mightily under their rule.

I always say that the political spectrum is best represented by a circle, and if two move, one to the extreme left and the other to the extreme right, they will meet at the bottom of the circle.

Because there was a concerted effort at the university level to tie the term to the “Neo-Nazis,” and thus...Nazis. Iirc, the transition in term usage began in earnest in the late 70’s.

Usually both simultaneously. Fascism is foremost poorly defined, but the common elements of fascist systems are (1) nationalism (not necessarily ethno-nationalism, though), (2) authoritarianism, (3) varying levels of state control over private corporations to accomplish state goals, and (4) goal of self-sufficiency. Everything else is up to individual government...

Can't truly be defined as left or right wing because fascism isn't really a system- similar to how 'Democracy' is neither left or right wing.

Almost all fascist governments were right-wing which is why the association is there. However, China is clearly the best example of modern fascism (though no one will admit it) and they are almost always defined as left wing.

For starters, because Mussolini said it was a right wing movement.

From The Doctrine of Fascism, 1932:

“Granted that the 19th century was the century of socialism, liberalism, democracy, this does not mean that the 20th century must also be the century of socialism, liberalism, democracy. Political doctrines pass; nations remain. We are free to believe that this is the century of authority, a century tending to the ‘right’ a Fascist century.”

It’s right-authoritarianism. Fascism rejected the class-conflict model at the core of socialism, rejecting proletarian universalism for blood-and-soil nationalism. It’s not about more or less “government,” as there are anarcho-syndicalists on the left just as critical of the state. It’s about who gets the spoils and who’s the enemy: the owners of capital or the enemies of the “volk.” The government of the Nazi Reich didn’t take over ownership of business (quite the opposite), but they did bust up unions.

Also Trudeau isn’t a leftist, he’s a neoliberal.

Authoritarianism can be left or right. Fascism is, by definition, right wing authoritarianism.

It’s a weird thing to get upset about. Would you feel better if the left started labeling right wing extremism with another word and then tried to slap you with that label instead?

Because the media is left wing. And the left blames others for their sins...

There's a lot of power in controlling narrative and being good with words.

The right wing just isn't very good at it. Much of the "right wing" that Democrats are fighting right now are actually red pilled liberals.

(DeSantis being one of the exceptions of course)

2 reasons

1. fascists are typically to the right of communists
2. Fascists tend to be nationalists while communists at least pretend not to be

That is pretty much it. Most fascist regimes are to the left of both major American political parties in most regards
