Good thing he didn’t cave to the demands of The Rant.

We were melting because he didn’t have every hire in place on week 1

On top of that, we were melting because of player attrition

Heck, we were even melting because other schools appeared to have jumped us on NIL

Did you just start watching LSU football? You may want to go look at the staff saban had. There are 3 National championship winning coaches from that staff.

Yea no doubt. Different era though. Currently, this is one of the best and most experienced staffs out there. Easily the best staff in the SEC.

Damn prisoner of the moment. Why must you speak in such absolutes? This topic is stupid as hell. Some of you people need to find another hobby until the fall. My God this is bad.

It’s not as good as Saban’s 2003 or 2004 staffs probably, but if you include the analysts and this new scouting department, it’s probably a much more well-rounded and robust staff in LSU history.

Is that how the question was asked? Kirby Smart was certainly not as good of a coach as he is in 2022. Jimbo was closer to what he became at Florida State, but he wasn’t as good in ‘04 as he was in ‘13. And hell, Saban got MUCH better than he was in ‘04. So, is it the best staff based on what they would become several years in the future, or how good it is in real time. There’s no chance this 2022 LSU staff will win as many future NCs as that 2004 one, but it’s very likely better RIGHT NOW than that ‘04 staff was then.

And I am including all the analysts and the new scouting department, which would seem to be a huge advantage over staffs that didn’t have them. I’m almost more impressed with the off the field hires Kelly has made than the on the field ones. It’s pretty incredible. And what’s exciting is that he’s not just throwing a bunch of qualified dudes together all Willy nilly, he’s organizing it, building an infrastructure, and creating a hierarchy that will be able to smoothly handle any 1 or 2 people leaving.

No, not necessarily. But you have to admit that what BK has done since he hit the ground at LSU is pretty damn impressive and is far and above anything we have previously seen since Saban was here. And I'm not so sure this staff isn't better top to bottom. Remains to be seen, but put the wet blanket in the dryer. The guy's point is directionally correct.

I am fired up but their choice on brining Brennan at the time fired me up and was good but seeing the offense as the weak link.

Exactly! I hope people realize we hired two instrumental pieces to UGA’s championship. This is the best staff LSU has had top to bottom ever.

Saban already won a championship by 04 and Brian Kelly has zero.

Fisher was already an OC for several years by then I want to say 7 or so considering his time with Bowden. Boom went on the be a HC shortly after. Those 3 pieces made it a great staff but add in Dooley, who was an AWESOME special teams coach, you were much better skilled at the 4 lead positions.

I’m not knocking Brian Kelly. In fact I was one of the biggest fans of this hire and agree with it 100%. I’m just looking at the accomplishments of the Coordinators, both won natties as assistants in 03 and Saban as a Head Coach.

but they never had to fight the way these coaches have to fight now. You have to fight to keep your current roster and recruit new talent.

They would have adapted to current time

At the time, none of those people were legendary.
The posters point is BK is amassing a staff that already has those credentials. T lasso is right. Too bad few on here get that point

It is very strong. It's really just so nice to have a competent hard working coach after almost two decades of total morons leading LSU
