The simple pleasure of looking through a JC Whitney catalog in the early 1990’s

Plotting what items I would buy for my first vehicle. The smell and feel of the newspaper pages. Almost anything you might want was in there.
Advance wasn’t around. The internet wasn’t around. If you wanted unusual parts for your ride as a young person you had to mail a check or money order.

I remember wanting a set of the musical air horns for my first car (Nissan hardbody pickup) in high school.

I wasn't even into cars and vehicles at that age and I still spent hours and hours looking through that catalog. It was a treat.
I do miss the 80s and 90s....

I had a small Toyota in college and I always wanted to put one of those blast horns in it just to scare the f*ck out of people.

I preferred JC Penny as a kid.

Mid 1970s Catalogue shopping for my 1957 Bel Air sedan. Four door with posts.
Headliner, seat covers, carpet, door panels, door trim, all the associated upholstery tools needed.
Trunk kit too after I sanded & spray painted it.
Carb (single barrel Rochester) rebuild kit.
Good times.
ETA:Close clone of mine except I had Cragar chrome rims-

Used to love thumbing through these.

That thing was a permanent placement on the back of the toilet. It was good for an unlimited number of shits, until the next one came out.

My dad called it Warshawsky catalog

Bought a Dukes of Hazzaed horn from them. Great times.

It's also amazing how much you learn as a teenager browsing those catalogs. Parts for shite you never thought about. Now you're understanding mechanics and parts etc.
My brother had a "sweet" pair of 12"s from JC Whitney in his Ford Grenada boxed in raw MDF.

I miss catalogs, you could spend hours dreaming about things you were going to buy in the future when you somehow got more money, one of life’s simple pleasures.

That Ocean Liner horn would be great in a dorm.

I think one of the things our technology has done is blunted the imagination and I don’t think enough people talk about that.

Avon was better. If you look hard enough and long enough, you might see part of a nipple every now and then.

Yep. I remember them----and the Sears Roebuck Catalog, Montgomery Ward Catalog, J.C. Penney Catalog.
They'd come every year in the mail and were as big as telephone books.
I'm a pretty avid gardener and get 3 seed catalogs every year, one from Johnny's Selected Seeds, one from Burpee and one from an Heirloom Seed Company.
