Even if the team was done with him, they'd still wait even if it's next year for him to return so teams can see he can still drop 25 a game on 60% shooting, then trade with with much higher value than if they trade him before he plays again.

This update shouldn't have even been done, because its added some fuel to the fire on the internets.
The "its in the best interest of everyone that he rehabs away from the team" is obviously bullshite , and it makes it appear he doesn't WANT to be around the team and wants out of here.

This was my immediate take. No one even knew where he was before. Our wizards got together and thought it was a good idea to say “Zion needs to be away from the team.” THAT’s the message they agreed on? Lol

There was just a thread a couple of days ago about why Zion wasn't with the team, and some people implied that he doesn't care about his teammates.

First of all, who cares if a few fans notice he's not with the team? Or even a few bloggers.
He's now shined a national spotlight on that fact, complete with Woj tweeting about it. Fodder for the internet at large.
2nd, the statement from him was totally cursory and unnecessary. Its "He's not with the team. He's rehabbing away, because, its in his best interest for some reason."
And then a BS statement "from" Zion clearly written by a PR team.
It is garbage.
They would have been MUCH better off just staying silent until they had something of note to actually say.
