To not tank in a season where Zion isn’t playing is basketball malpractice.

You go and try to convince BI, Jonas, Hart, Herb, Graham and the rest of the guys that's out there fighting their arse off that they should be losing on purpose.

You want to lose your good players, or have them turn into having a don't give a shite attitude? Tell them not even halfway through the season that they need to tank.

strong words. lets debate.
the spirit and espirit de corps and identity must be primary. guys come and go.
several players are young.
they will need to master elements of the craft if they are to compete vs the elite. as it turns out there are a few well run teams in the west and they will be there next year.
you better do it all right now, whatever you can. or you start from meh next year.
your entire premise is improving the lottery ball count.
how does lottery ball count help you if griffin cannot pull the trigger on #4?
besides its no sure thing that banchero is better than 2 or 3 other guys.
do your scouting. interview people. be sure about the person.
and theres an effective antidote to tanking. the balls % is not as favorable to loser1 as it once was. loser2 loser3 and loser4 all get 14%.
now loser5 is 12%.
and the big moment!
when loser8 gets pick2.
luck reduces the wonderfulness of tanking.

and not only that. only 3 games out of 10th. how glorious if they can beat out minnesota and probably portland for 10th. id pick up 2nd string pg now.
make the run. playing playin games is an education in itself. playoff atmosphere, loser goes home.
or instead just give up and hope you dont end up pick5 when loser6 and loser9 jump you.

A good tanking strategy would be having BI ISO away games in the 4th every night. The team is definitely better off long term figuring out how to win. Graham, JV, Hart and Herb have all showed up in crunch time and Willie starts to figure who and what he can and can’t count on.

With some luck you can learn to win and have a top pick. With the flattened lottery odds learning to lose only to drop from 3 to 5 seems like the malpractice to me. And based on how the number of teams tanking has changed a lot of the league feels the same way.

The problem - in my opinion - is the “rest of the guys” just aren’t worth anything however hard they play.

You named 5 guys and then stopped because that’s what we have. 5 nba players, including a true rising star in Ingram. Zion is 6 when healthy. The roster simply needs more and better players and we have not shown an ability to add through free agency. It’s got to happen through the draft.

If this Pelicans team ever competes for a title and not just a back end playoff slot it will be because Zion stays healthy and we draft a third star to pair with Zion and Ingram. Zion, Ingram and the rest of the guys on this roster simply won’t be a legit NBA title threat.

A top 4 pick in this draft would be massive.

Inside the NBA is going in on Zion again and I love it. There putting it all on Zion not taking his weight and conditioning seriously. If this is not wake up call for Zion nothing will be.

Then there would be an article about zion being in portland.

What are the pels trying to hide?

Does he want out?

Who gives a fukk man? This is nothing.

Not sure why it was deleted but hey, now we're getting somewhere! This is (was?) a real update!

Hopefully this is legit. That's exactly the kind of place Zion needs to be rehabbing.

People speculated Jordan might be the only one that could reach him. Hopefully he tore Zion a new a-hole like only Jordan can do and he'll never be over 250 again.

Can MJ even directly communicate with him without permission from the league and Pels?

he's the owner of another team.

Interesting point and you're probably right, but if Phil Knight called Zion while Jordan was in the room and handed him the phone, how would the league know?

Jordan talking to Zion would make me cry tears of joy ever since he signed with them.
