Whatever you do, don’t put them in the dryer. They come out ready to fit a toddler.

Buying cheap rainwear would be like buying discount condoms!! I only bought it for one thing and if it fails at that there is no price i wouldn’t pay to not have it not fail!!
My 200$ cabelas rain gear has been made fun of many times ,,, until it rains!!!

Bought a pair for a gator hunt at Cabelas and got soaked.

Dried them off and took them shitty things back.

I followed reviews of the best rain gear and then set some alerts on 3camels and slickdeals and snagged a $300 Columbia rain jacket for $40. I should have grabbed 5! It folds into into itself, is made from some breathable waterproof hoodoo fabric and it is small and light enough for me to clip to my tackle box when I go on my buddies boat. I usually wear water resistant pants or shorts fishing so I didn't bother with the full suit.

I would sweat my arse off in them. I did the one time I borrowed some. My army poncho from 1994 works awesome, covers me and the whole climbing stand like a tent. Also not a bad color.

Frogg Toggs in turkey season when it rains is like being in a sauna. I finally spent the money on some decent rain gear. Worth. Every. Penny

Rain gear is one think won’t compromise on.

I have a couple of Sitka jackets and a Simms jacket. They’re all gore-tex. Also have a pair of gore-tex rain pants that I bought from bass pro several years ago. I’ve stood in pouring rain more than once at sporting events, or fishing and was bone dry the whole time.

I worked for the company that originally invented that fabric. It was supposed to be PPE for dirt and grime protection. We found out it was very water resistant under gentle conditions. Another division ran with it and marketed it as rainwear. It has underperformed in that category ever since.

I have the higher end Frogg Toggs and I've had good luck. When the weathers wet I farm and ranch in them. The cheap Toggs that are more like a cheap tarp and yes they suck.

I've never owned any but it seems fine for how 95% of the US uses rain gear, which is going from the car to a building. Sitting or being active in the rain for hours is an entirely different ballgame, and apparently they over-marketed it to be a Gore-tex competitor, which it ain't. Gore-tex does have plenty of competitors these days and a lot of them are quite good, but you're not going to get them at $50 (or whatever they cost) for a top/bottom set.

I've been riding motorcycles since age 18 and am now 69. I've been all over the U.S. on many of the road trips I've taken and it is almost inevitable that somewhere along the way I will run into rain at some point in time.

I too have a good set of Frogg Toggs in my saddlebag that I will break out when rain is coming down, especially in the cooler months where riding and wet is very uncomfortable. The ones I have are breathable, have vent panels, have heel straps to keep them over my boots and the top has a zipper closure and a velcro cover to seal it.

I pretty much refuse to wear them in the summer months and would rather get a bit wet and dry out as I motor down the road in the warm/hot air once it stops raining.

I'll second both of the above and add that you get what you pay for with rain gear. I bought the Frogg Toggs Pilot Pro series bibs and jacket on sale at a great price from Amazon ($225 for both) earlier this year and it has performed on same level as my Cabela's Guide Wear suit. I like it because you can also use a zip in liner to make jacket insulated for cold weather.

I keep a few sets of cheap toggs in the boat in case of unexpected storms but they usually don't last more than 1 use.
