A&M - Next Mass Exodus

Mark my words. The transfer portal will be full of every 4 & 5 star who doesn’t get the starting nod on A&M’s roster next year. It’s the downside of having too much talent on at one position group. Jimbo isn’t Saban

i think you will start seeing these type players transfer when they dont get the NIL money they were promised when recruited

Especially when they lose 3-4 games again
Posted on 12/16/21 at 8:13 am to TXTiger81
Who cares what happens over there. Until they win something they are a non factor.

It won’t be unique to Aggie. Anybody who stockpiles top talent will lose said top talent. And some team like Iowa with 3 star 5 year guys will win a championship and we will all be standing here like wtf? Saban excluded.

They won't transfer if the pay is good.

Wouldn't shock me. I was thinking that a lot of these guys (like Ricks) are going to be way too focused on NIL deals for the few years they spend in college and they'll miss out on developing enough to make their money in the draft/NFL.
You can't sit here and tell me Eli Ricks is getting first round NFL money from any booster in America. Same goes for any NFL bound guys transferring even though they were starters. He's not seeing the forest through the trees.

There are no contracts, right? They’ll just go and get more cash somewhere else.

I thought the exact same thing after early signing day yesterday. I'll have my popcorn popped, especially after they have 3 to 4 losses again next year.
I definitely think LSU need to step up their NIL dealings drastically though.

Transfer portal is a disaster. NCAA should revisit the protocol. Players are taking advantage of the NIL money, so you will see more activity in the transfer portal.

If they are being paid 100k a yr, they'd only leave to another school paying more.
There won't be Maas transfers. What 19 yr old kid cares about playing time when they'll be worth 500k by time they turn 22. I played d1 sports, and as much as I'd like to say I'd have drive, push myself to start, etc. If someone gave me 50-100k a yr, I would be very content being a backup and working out, eating 5 star chef meals every day.

This comment is exclusive to aTm. But the worst part of this NIL shite is that the best players will play just enough to milk the cow, but will really just use these schools as a place to squat until they can go pro
LSU has gotten a heavy dose of this in recent years. Guys taking up not only roster spots but starting spots because of their talent, but not meaningfully contribute to the team.
Yes, paying players is important, always has been. But it is more important than ever to recruit the kids interested in winning championships first and foremost. They still exist and some of them are the most talented. But pandering to the most talented can be a receipt for disaster

You guys act like you think most recruits are getting paid some decent $$. I doubt that seriously. All but a select few super high 4* and 5* players are going to share in the wealth.
Same idea translates to the porta potty aka the portal. The high school studs who can't amplify their game to the college level will be floating around in the shitty waters of the portal...

Texas is offering 100k a yr ... per player. That's just through some charitable "abc" fund. All those players can also go get local vehicles, etc deals in 2 seconds.
So yeah, driving a 50-70k dollar truck, and getting 100k a year salary is a lot of money.
If Texas is offering that, what do you think atm is paying to get 4-5 dlineman, from pa/ az/ tenn to go to college station, ranked in the top 50 overall.

That isn't going to last. The NCAA is going to add more rules to the system to ensure its not a complete pay for play system. Obviously there's going to be pay for play players at the top but there's no way an entire position on one team is going to be pay for play.

I will bet you every dollar in my bank account that this doesn't happen. Your logic is that it's easier than ever to poach elite talent... therefore it will take less elite talent than ever to win a championship?
No team in the era of modern recruiting rankings has EVER won a championship unless their roster has been made up of >50% 4 and 5*s. Google "blue chip ratio".
That's not going to magically change because it becomes easier for kids to transfer. If anything, it will go in the OPPOSITE direction--you will need an even HIGHER ratio of blue chips in order to win, because it's now easier for top programs to poach them.

I mean you're demonstrably wrong. Just in the past week, there has been all kinds of publicity about this stuff happening. There was the thing with Texas OL all making a certain amount. Jimbo came out and basically said that everyone was getting paid. Kiffin did the same.
You're naive if you think that a huge number of these guys aren't getting paid. Are a huge number of them making millions? No. Only the top few guys are making that much. But if you're a 4 or 5*, you can 100% find a place to make some $.

The NCAA might not even be in charge of P5 football in a few years. Doubt they do anything

It won’t be, this is all new but they’re not going to keep paying guys they think are busts, and those guys are going to leave ASAP. We’re in the early stages of a cycle where coaches who are pieces of shite, like Jimbo, can tell these kids anything with no track record to prove otherwise
I guarantee Jimbo is promising every 5* and high 4* $1,000,000+ per year in NIL money and you’re going to have a lot of kids pissed when he reneges on those promises because they can’t give that type of money to a backup. We’re about to see a cycle from certain schools of overpromising/underdelivering and it’s going to get ugly.
When kids go to your school for money and nothing else, it’s not sustainable. Alabama is sustainable because Saban is running a machine, 8&4U buying a bunch of kids every year is not

That many five star kids arent tolerating an average season annually. 2 of those QBs won’t be there after next season.
