So the wife and kids and I were driving through the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights, and out of nowhere a giant owl swoops down out of a tree and SMACK straight in to the front of my truck.

I immediately stopped and got out and the poor thing was just lying there motionless in the grass. It was HUGE. I didn't touch him because I didn't want my face ripped off.

So I decided to drive off because there was really nothing to do unfortunately.

I was incredibly upset after that, and decided I had to go back by and do something.

Well, right as I'm pulling up I see him/her/they(?) standing in the middle of the road. As I got a little closer it jumped up and flew into a tree.

I guess it is going to be okay and was just stunned. I was going to be incredibly upset if it was dead because it was beautiful.

I hit an owl tonight.

You should have finished the job when you had the chance. An owl never forgets.

I had the same experience once. They get hit pretty often. Beautiful animals. You did right not to mess with them.

Pulling up to the hunting lease before daylight there was one sitting in the road that didn’t move as I passed. Went back and looked at it and it was bloody on one side of his face from getting hit. Shoved him off the road with a stick and went hunting. Came out and it was gone. A week or two later I came out of the woods after dark in the evening, and there was a single eye shining in my head light. It was the owl, now one-eyed, sitting on the sign-in board. But he made it
