Did Crews get robbed from getting the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Year?

Can't go wrong with either or. Skenes just has been so consistent and dominant throughout the year.

I personally think Skenes edged him out as a full season. Where we would be without him is something I don't want to think about. Both had outstanding years, and cases can be made for both, but I think it's the right choice.

Crews hit a bit of a slump at the back end of the season.
Played incredible the first 3/4s and still great all the way through.
Skenes just never let up

No. I also think you would be making the same argument if Crews won and Skenes didn’t. Both phenomenal. No wrong choice imo

A bit ?

Without Crews' massive slump he probably wins it

Nah. Crews has been in a mild slump for the past few weeks. Skenes probably just edged him out. That said, hopefully this takes some pressure off of Crews and he goes on a hot streak in the post season.

Hopefully Dylan uses this as motivation and starts to smash the cover off the ball

He’s not in a slump anymore he’s just not as hot as he was . He’s on a nine game hit streak now

The struggles for Crews the last 3-4 weeks probably edged Skenes ahead of him. If Crews was able to keep his average closer to .450 he probably gets the player of the year. But I wouldn't say Crews was robbed, Skenes was very deserving of the award.

Crews was his own worst enemy setting the bar so high hitting so close to .500 for so long that the last month looks like a big disappointment with his "slump"
I say slump only because he did hit much worse than he did prior to the Auburn series, but from the Auburn series on he was 15 for 59 which is .254 at the plate which certainly isnt bad but when you hit basically near .500 previous to that, people will notice
I will say during that 14-game stretch he did only have 2 extra base hits (2 HR, no doubles or triples) which is the most shocking part honestly.
His last double was against Southeastern on May 2nd.

This! The guy wasn’t human for 3/4th of the year. What he was doing was incredible. He just came back down to earth a little bit.

No he was extremely average the last month of the season. The award is over the entire season.

What Skenes did vs these juiced balls and the SEC strike zone is one of the better individual performances in recent memor
As great as crews was, he still has peers. Skenes doesn’t.

The SEC alone had lots of guys with great offensive numbers. His slump at the end hurt him.

Robbed? No.
Player of the Year isn't about potential, it's about performance. Crews was very good, but he wasn't the best out there.
There's a guy at West Virginia, J.J. Wetherholt, who hit .443 against Big 12 pitching, as many HRs, more doubles, RBI totals very close, and had 34 stolen bases to Crews' 6.
And more to the point, Tommy White hit .392 with 20 HRs, more doubles, and 32 more RBI... there's a good argument White was the more important batter in the same lineup as Crews.
If you want to say Crews also has the defense, that's fine: he made some nice catches in the outfield, but I can't remember him making a play as spectacular as, say, the catch the Vandy guy made against Arkansas. I don't recall Crews going up and robbing a guy of a HR. And I also don't remember him gunning someone down at the plate, either. I'd say you have to do stuff like that to make your play in the field a relevant issue.
Skenes, on the other hand, was the dominant pitcher all year. Even the short appearance at South Carolina, where he did get hit some, he had 8 strikouts in 3 innings- so every out but 1. It wasn't until the SEC tournament that he had an poor outing, the rest were all very impressive.

I dont even know who this Skenes guy is but there is no way he is better than Crews or the guy who's been starting for us on Friday nights. That guy was a stud.

A few IF singles in there. He's coming out of it but he hasn't gotten to where he wants to be yet
