With this type of money being thrown around I hope these kids get representation. Big money doesn’t just walk away when these kids change their minds.

No problem with it. If CFB is going to become legit business at the player level, then there needs to be some tightening up of the rules just like every other professional league.

More like find a CPA. A lot of these families will be taxes for the first time.

There are going to be many traffic stories that arise from NIL. The kids are young and many come from families that have never had this “problem”. Who will be the watchdog to protect them?

1. So the schools could provide help with accounting and taxes.
2. So the schools could help hook them up with financial planners, maybe even provide a permanent position on the athletic staff to help with such (Lewis Neal comes to mind).
A) It's going to suck they day we have to suspend a player because the IRS comes calling. For everybody involved.
B) They are vulnerable. From outsiders and yes, in many cases, their own immaturity in managing money. Sadly in some cases from their own family. Not that the school automatically has the ethical high ground, but at least it is an extra set of eyes on it and the school does have some vested interest there where many do not.

Jimbo Fisher gets a $100 Million dollar deal.
Fans: Wow That's alot of money, but I love CFB
Ed Orgeron gets a pay raise $9Mil/yr
Fans: Wow That's alot of money, he won us a title and I love CFB
Transfer Portal and NIL
Fans: Oh thats just unfair and will ruin college football
I remember when Bowl games were named after regional products or commodities. Corporations entered college sports longtime ago.

Wrong, there is no agency. Most of these kids will not sniff the NFL. I just hope someone is in their ear about getting an education. We win wars with brains not physical talent. We build corporations with brains not physical talent. Sure wish education was more important to these kids.

Yep Some of these families are going to find themselves in a entirely different tax bracket then they are accustomed to. It also could mess up any scholarships based on income other family members have.

The only kind of attorneys they need are tax attorneys. The tax man cometh.

That poster has a point. You should always lawyer up when there’s large amounts of money involved.

Yeah, this isn’t a NIL-hate thing. These guys will need to lawyer up for multiple reasons. Look what NFL cleat chasers are willing to do to ruin guys and look at what college cleat chasers used to be willing to do based only on potential.
These guys are going to be targets.

I mean It’s bound to happen
Burn a booster who gave you a car in the DL what’s he gonna do?
Burn Canes? They may actually have a breach of contract claim.

Dear Idiot -
Try to fire up your few remaining functional synapses. Coaches and players are not equivalent. At all. Look at the NFL. Players can only switch teams under carefully defined free agency periods. Why? Because unfettered movement of players each off-season would make it virtually impossible to manage rosters, would degrade the on-field product, and would ultimately result in declining popularity and - wait for it - declining revenue, the very revenue the players need to get paid in the first instance. CFB is no different. Unchecked transfers will undermine the product on the field and erode the popularity of the game substantially over time. In turn, that will erode revenue from the fans - the very money that these players are clamoring for. You have to protect the integrity of the game, otherwise the short-term benefits to one generation of players destroys the benefit to future generations.

Interested to see if there are any morality clauses in some of these big dollar deals.

As opposed to previously when they were kidnapped at their high school graduation and forced into NCAA labor camps?

I am ok with NIL, it is the transferring that causes the problems in my mind. If things are going to stay as they are, schools should be able to cut ties with kids as easily as kids cut with the schools.
