Under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, Missouri has a record of 7-16 against AP Top 25 teams as of November 2025. While his teams have shown recent success, achieving back-to-back 10+ win seasons and winning bowl games, their record against ranked opponents indicates a challenge in consistently beating top-tier competition, even with a 1-10 record against top-10 teams.

The main reasons are two fold for the people that don't like him.
1) He's nerdy
2) Mizzou has played a very soft schedule, which they believe has inflated the perception of his success.
The main reasons why some people think he would be good are:
1) He's elevated Mizzou from a bottom SEC team to a tier 2 SEC school
2) Other coaches have high praise for him
3) He understands recruiting and how to find good overlooked talent in the portal

He’s probably a good coach but there’s just not a lot of history to work with

No, I was serious. He’s just such a terrible cultural fit at LSU and I’d be shocked if LSU wanted to go down that road again.

Of our last 4 coaches, 3 were terrible cultural fits and two of the terrible fits won titles. The "one of us" coach also won a title but left chaos in his wake. I would say cultural fit has little bearing on success.

Dude is a good coach for Mizzou. But he’s a weird little geek that would be less inspiring to the team than retirement mode BK was. He also once said that if his qb at the time didn’t have a girlfriend he would be trying to hook up his underage daughter with him once she turned 18. He’s just weird as shite

The more people hate on drink, the more I look into him and like him. I doubt he comes here, but he's not as bad as everybody says.
