I’m worried because the last defensive coordinator with supposed recruting issues but was great at developing talent didn’t turn out so well. Oh wait……….

We’ve got Wilson, Thomas and Polian full time recruiting HS and the portal. House needs to spend his time making our defense elite

I agree. People think that coaches like Les and O know that we need to have recruiting taken care, yet a guy like Brian Kelly just doesn’t get that? Lol. The man gets it. Our fans just aren’t used of having a staff with actual X’s and O’s Coaches onboard. I expect his coordinators to be X’s and O’s and player development and the position coaches to be more suited towards recruiting.

Exactly! Look at 8&4. It wasn’t Elko recruiting all that talent, it was the position coaches. We’ll fill out our staff with some great recruiters

If there is 1 position on the coaching staff where I'm not concerned with recruiting prowess it's coordinator.

They are Xs and Os guys first and foremost

I'm gonna guess this just didn't come out right.
Position coaches - by definition - are responsible for player development/improvement.
Again, sure that just came out a little twisted.

In our current free agent market, the value of a great recruiter has been significantly diminished. Money talks. I want coaches that can coach and boosters that can write big checks.

the man in that picture couldn't slow down Texas, Vandy, or a freshman qb at Ole Piss.

So you’re another dumb shite obsessed with meaningless garbage time yards after the game has long been won.

To be fair, Aranda really didn't either in regards to Texas, Vandy and OM. Hell, in 2019 we gave up 37, 38, 38 to those 3. GTHOH

I am one that thinks the OC/DC doesn’t need to be a good recruiter. It’s just a bonus if they are.

They need to be competent and have the ability to articulate their vision to the recruits to close but the position coaches are the ones that need to be doing the day to day stuff.

The longer it goes the ability of the coach to connect with and smooze the recruits will matter less and less. Who comes with the best "deal" is what will matter.

Yes, with a totally out-of-control and unregulated NIL, the old concept of sitting around the dinner table trying to win over the recruit’s parents is as obsolete as frick, at least for the four and five stars.

It’s now all about the benjamins.

I will never be as concerned about LSU’s ability to recruit secondary and wide out players as I am big guys in the trenches.

I think we’re in great hands moving forward.
