To take it a step further, I honestly am starting to seriously wonder if you are not talking to yourself. You two have kind of become my Herman-loving adversaries. I have noticed that the only time one of you is online is when the other is online. I'll make a post and it may be hours or even the next day, then bam, there you both are. Even both of you are online well after 2:00 a.m.
You both always only seem to post in the same threads - haven't checked your post histories but have noticed because of the very unsuccessful attempted double teams on behalf of your beloved Houston Cougars coach.

You are so full of shite. And you're seeking comfort and agreement from a poster - don't know gender - who was spouting total and unequivocal bullshite the other day about your hero.
I have no clue what you are talking about. I think it is time for you to go to bed.
When you wake up, if you could please let me know where i said "tom herman is the only candidate for the HC job at LSU." I would appreciate it because i dont remember saying that. Night night little buddy. Here tommy boy can give you a kiss to help you sleep better.

But he does a crazy potential ceiling and vast experience and great resume as a head coach.

Lmao. Yeah it's a conspiracy against you. Since i only spoke to you for the first time yesterday, that i am aware of. Are you wearing your tinfoil hat and someone turned on the microwave or something? Please go dig through all our posts to prove your theory. I'm sure it would be a great use of your time. It's much more likely that we are the same person and conspiring against you for some reason than to think that two people (along with many others) could agree on something. I guess all the other posters telling you you're blind and full of shite are just more of me/sport tiger alts out to get you right? Lmao. I swear you can't write better material than this.
Eta: off to bed now. Oh no me and sporttiger logged off at the same time too! Dunh dunh dunh...the plot thickens.

Well, I admit if you are, you suck at it. Hell you or ya'll and your unbridled Herman love have actually made this board fun.
And it is more than just since yesterday. It was yesterday you said you would never reply to another one of my posts. You wonder why you are responding even though you swore you wouldn't?
Because I don't think Herman has the track record to be the LSU head coach and you can't stand it. You posted this after I made a fool of you and your emotional over-the-top Herman is god posts.

but just know i will not be responding to you anymore. I am done with you and your troll toll.

Did anyone else notice Tiger Ree wrote this out in a message in which he replied to himself?
Just wondering, I enjoyed that.

I'm not even sure why people bother to respond sometimes. He thinks he's bringing up good points, it's kind of funny.

quote:I haven't shut the door on O at all. Evaluating the totality of what he has done so far at LSU, not just winning games but in game adjustments, off the field, organizationally, changes to the practice schedule, as the face of the program etc. he has done a great job. The never O crowd keeps bringing up Ole Miss because there isn't anything they can point to at LSU that they disagree with - they just laughably write it off as O being a good cheerleader as if that is all he has done.
give the guy a chance. the next 4 games will tell us how good he is.
I disagree with those that want to dismiss it as just an interim job. An 8 game stretch at USC and an 8 game stretch at LSU - if successful would make me want to consider him further. I get their concerns but i just don't share them to the extent i would write him off right now without further consideration.
He's not my #1 by any stretch, i really don't have a preferred coach because its so early in the search. I like what i see so far but he really hasn't been tested yet. Teams he has played so far have been average at best - how he manages the remaining schedule, team and program the rest of the way will show me a lot for better or worse.

Its not that they dont like him, they want someone else as a head coach!

I think LSU could probably do better and I also think they could do a lot worse.
I feel like O is viewed similar to Miles in a lot of ways - Never a coordinator, not a polished speaker, good for a silly soundbite, very good recruiter, will have to live and die by his coordinators success, a players coach, not an Xs/Os guy.
We just got done with 10 years of that and I think most fear that after the emotion wears off and the program/roster become his there could be trouble down the road for all the same reasons Miles ran into trouble.
I think lots of fans don't trust the track record and also don't want to jump back into a deal with a guys that's just like Miles. Is LSU hires O the rest of the SEC will breath a sigh of relief. He may prove differently in the long run but he isn't scaring anyone at all.
If LSU hires Petrino, Fisher, Kelly, Herman then opposing fanbases will be put on notice. That should tell you all you need to know.

it's not that I don't like him, but he's unproven and a very risky hire.

But, even though Houston lost to Tulsa and got bitch-slapped by SMU (the equivalent of LSU and Coach O losing to Vanderbilt 40-3) he has a much higher potential ceiling.
last time Houston lost to Tulsa, Herman was not on the coaching staff, so I'm not going to blame him for that loss.
and while losing to SMU is definitely not good, it's not even remotely close to the comparison you just brought up.

It's definitely nowhere near as bad as an Ole Miss team losing to say... Wyoming.

They are ashamed to admit just how bad miles had them fooled.

to dismiss a guy that has risk if foolhardy; every coach you hire has a risk associated with him.
There are good risks and there are bad risks. Giving a guy who has already had a chance to be a HC in the SEC and was historically bad is not a good risk.
The guy had a worse record than Curley did for goodness sakes.

His first class would have been seniors the year Houston Nutt took over 9-4 5-3 SEC record.
His second class would have been seniors in Nutt's second year 9-4 4-4 SEC record.
His third and final class would be seniors in Nutt's 3rd season - also mixed with two of Nutt's classes - hence the 4-8 1-7 SEC.
I'll see that and raised you:
Nutt's first class would have been seniors the year Freeze took over 7-6 (very few if any of Orgeron's players left).
His second class would have been seniors in Freeze's second year 8-5 (no Orgeron players)
His third and final class would be seniors in Freeze's 3rd season - 9-4 (no Orgeron players)

Being a great interim coach doesnt make you a great coach. I compare O to a bench scorer on an NBA team. He has a particular skill set that makes him really good in particular situations. But excuse me for not wanting to make him the starting point guard for a championship caliber team.

His resume or Urban Meyer's resume?
Herman has been a head coach for how long?
I didn't realize he was the overall team coordinator for Ohio State. For some reason I just thought he did offense.
If any candidate for the LSU head coaching position has the potential to be a one-season-wonder it is Hermonster.
While most football "people" think he's the real deal, you are right in that he is unproven. A proven coach might be less risky. Unless what he's proven is that he hasn't come close to a winning season as a full time head coach.
What would he do differently at LSU? What head coach(es) did he learn from? The good thing about him, besides recruiting, is that it seems like he is willing to let his coordinators coach, and LSU will allow him to hire the best coordinators available.
99% of the people who want LSU to get the best available head coach don't dislike coach Orgeron at all. They love him on the staff, but not as head coach. And, in my opinion, you NEVER make a hire to save a recruiting season. This is LSU. The cupboard is full, and the right coach can keep it that way.

It's strictly emotional for them...though they won't all admit it.
and that's because YOU are wrong. just because someone likes his accent doesn't mean that's the main reason they want to hire him. geeze, just mention his accent or his heritage on here and people like you come out of the woodwork.
he should not be rejected because of his heritage.
i think we should be more objective. i started this post solely to put this statement out there. i also stated we should let the year play out. we should be concerned with his record at ole miss but that, and his accent should not be the only determinants on hiring him or not.
