I think most of us are just doing it for fun and to keep us busy since the coaching search will be a slow process. We’re also trolling the “insiders” that are saying it’s going to happen. I don’t think most of us actually believe it will happen. I know I don’t. I want Heupel, Kiffin, or Goleta as the back up honestly.

Why do fans of other teams give a crap about what we choose to get our hopes up about.
It's fact that Saban has had conversations with LSU. It's fact there's some interest in him being associated with the university in some capacity.
Outside of a few select people, no one knows if that is coaching, athletics department, consulting, etc. and the fact that he has been asked about going back into the college game no less than 5 times in the past 2 weeks and has never denied it, suggests he is interested. Hence the hope of some that he wants to come back and coach.
With regard to LSU fans, there's two types. There are the ones that are eternal optimists and want to find something hopeful to hold onto and then there are the others who would rather crap on the hope of the other group and be negative about LSU because they will either be pleasantly surprised or right.
In the end, no one knows what's going to happen. Kelly getting fired right after aTm was not a planned thing like Napier was at Florida. Anything can happen. If Saban does have an itch to coach again, LSU would be the likely landing spot. Only he knows what he wants to do. If he chooses to stay retired, then LSU will hire someone else who is also a good coach.

Not really. I'm going to enjoy the inevitable emotional crash and burn. When there is thread after thread and post after post after the hire by Swamptards saying, "I wanted Saban. What a letdown!" or "These posters with sauces said it was Nick!" are y'all still going to stick with the it's all just in fun line?
