What is the correct draft trade value of Sean Payton?

Team who wants to trade for him, this board is filled with more than just Saints fans. What is the appropriate Sean Payton value if a team wants to acquire him?
I'd say it starts with at least a middle road 1st round pick and a 3rd and hopefully some competition would drive that mark up a bit.
I'd have no problem neither with both picks being in 2024 as well. (cough denver cough)

I'm hoping competition will boost his value but I'm just praying for a first. Chargers and Cards might be desperate though

At least a 1st and probably a 3rd and maybe some compensation. Too many picks to Saints means some later round picks to other team which Payton is famous for finding those diamonds late in rounds.
Bill Belichick (New York Jets to New England, 2000)
NFL commissioner Paul Taglibue awarded the Jets the Patriots first-round pick in 2000 and a fourth and seventh-round pick in 2001. The Patriots were awarded the Jets' fifth-round pick in 2001 and a seventh-round pick in 2002.
Jon Gruden (Oakland Raiders to Tampa Bay, 2002)
traded him to Tampa Bay for first-round draft pick in 2002, a first-round pick in 2003 and a second round pick in 2004. The Buccaneers also threw in $8 million in cash.
Herm Edwards (New York Jets to Kansas City, 2006)
Kansas City sent the Jets a fourth-pick in exchange to release Edwards from his contract.
Mike Holmgren (Green Bay Packers to Seattle Seahawks, 1999)
The Packers received the Seahawks second-round pick (47th overall) in the 1999 NFL Draft.
Bill Parcells (New England Patriots to New York Jets, 1997)
The Patriots balked and NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue worked a deal that gave the Patriots the Jets' third and fourth-round picks in 1997, a second-round pick in 1998 and a first-round in 1999. The Jets also donated $300,000 to a Patriots charity in exchange for New England releasing Parcells.

Besides Gruden, it sounds like a lot of those coaches were on the way out anwyays.

i don't think any unemployed coach is worth trading draft picks for...

Don't think you are going to get 2 firsts and a third.
My guess is you get a first and maybe some change.
Hopefully a couple teams want him.

2 1s.
If you can't get it, you don't allow him to coach.

And if he protests you fire Dennis Allen and tell him to be at work on Monday

His coaching rights are under contract. You can't force him to work if he doesn't want to.

I’m still not convinced we even get a first. I really hope I’m wrong.

I am not hopeful we get anything. I have a feeling we will get locked out of it. I would take the Herm Edwards deal and move on. Unless you can get multiple teams fighting for him.

It is whatever the Saints say it is. Obviously there would be some negotiating but the ball is totally in the Saints court. They have him under contract for 2 more seasons I think. If someone want him they will have to pay what the Saints ask for.

How would that even happen? He is under contract to the Saints no if and or buts, its cut and dry.

If it’s chargers then that puts us in a better spot, somewhat same as Arizona, because both teams can afford to send out picks. Chargers especially are more injured than talent void. They need someone that can get creative with Herberts arm, and inversely I see that as a situation that’d really excite Sean.

Knowing the Saints FO, we'll give it up for a 6th and a bowl of gumbo.

I was thinking 1st 2023 and 2 seconds (23&24 or 24&25 or a second and a third (23 or 23&24)

What leverage do you have for that? Show up or we'll fire you and void your contract.
