Michigan is going to have to find a "Michigan man" that Carr approves of apparently. Try and get a coach that can do the job all the while satisfying the guy heading out the door. It's going to be a long proccess. I wouldn't get too worried.

I'll preface all of this by saying that I think Miles is staying at LSU. However ...
Think about it from a PR perspective. If Miles does take the Michigan job after the national championship game, he would easily be able to say, "Hey, when I said I was going to stay at LSU, that's what I meant. I intended to stay at LSU. Heck, I even signed a contract extension, if that doesn't show you I intended to stay at LSU, then I don't know what would. I also wanted to eliminate any distractions so that my players had every opportunity to succeed in the game that they had been selected to play in. I love this football team and did not want to do anything to prevent it from having success. However, since that time, Michigan has come at me from all angles and made it clear to me that they want me to lead their program into the future, and after discussing it with my family, I have decided to accept the position. I love this University (LSU) and everyone associated with it and will forever have LSU in my heart, but it has long been a dream of mine to coach at Michigan and now is my chance."
Everyone turns out a winner in that situation. Michigan gets their man, Miles gets his dream job, LSU wins the national title with no distractions. The only catch is that LSU is stuck trying to find a coach after everyone has already made their move. Unless, of course, Bertman and O'Keefe are in on this whole situation and have a candidate (Del Rio for example) in hand that they know will accept the position that late in the process. Maybe Bertman and O'Keefe are just helping Miles in his efforts to eliminate any and all coaching distractions before the big game.

If Michigan names one of thier coordinators as an "intrem" coach then I know that Miles is gone after next season. You can't turn down your dream job twice (see: Roy Williams)

That's why I have to laugh at all this Miles integrity over Saban bullshite.
If Michigan offers Miles the job, he's gone. The only question is whether or not Michigan offers. It appears they are going through a power struggle right now and we'll see who wins out.
But I can assure you that if Michigan offers, Miles is gone.
Integrity? Yeah, right. And Santa Claus is going to slide down my chimney in a couple of weeks.

I've already started to worry. Some of these supposed candidates (Hoke, Payton) can't be anything more than a smoke screen.

i'd feel better about this whole situation if miles would go ahead and hire a new DC
This is something that I think most (not you of course) are overlooking.
If Miles is staying wouldn't he want to get a DC in here PRONTO? Not only for the NC game but also for recruiting purposes?
By allowing Pelini to coach the D and not seeking a new DC, it only tells me that the door is being left WIDE OPEN for Michigan.

The Rutgers coach said he had tenatively agreed to be the coach at Michigan and then had a change of heart. It's obvious that Michigan has moved on and is trying to find someone other than Miles.

Just like Alabama did when they low-balled every coach that would talk to them while they bided their time waiting for the Dolphins' season to end so they could talk with Saban.
Also, you can't always believe that this coach or that coach had tentatively agreed to a new job. Coaches use that tactic all the time to leverage their current position when negotiating for a better deal. (See Tommy Tubberville). Hell it even worked for Miles this year.

How did Miles get a better deal? His pay did not change (the increases called tied to SEC and NC were already in his contract). Basically, he had a few extra years tacked on.

Miles can still go to UM. Nothing has really changed as for that goes. He can still spin it that they really wanted him and he is going home. I hope they find someone soon though bc it still is affecting recruiting, etc.

Yea that is why some people are calling for AD's head and fans are sending emails and petitions to the president. LC is the major player that does not want Miles but he is in the minority. He just has a few major players on his side.

I am surprised that all you guys still worrying about Miles to Michigan have time to be on TD. I would figure you would be following your wife around to see if she is cheating.
There is a time when you have to listen to what Miles has said and he stated he was not going ANYWHERE. He even told his players he would be here for the rest of their time at LSU. If he leaves he leaves, we will find someone else. Give up the obession!!! Not everyone is like Saban fortunately. I think we can believe Miles and enjoy having a team in the Championship game. If he does leave, I will admit I was wrong about the man and eat my crow.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)
