Michigan is after Miles. That is the rumor out the Premium websites on Rivals and scout today. It's down to weather or not he wants to stay or go to Michigan now. But he will finally be offered a deal. Up until now he's never been offered one

Yeah, but, he probably only meant the seniors, right? Just like when he says "next year," he is only referring to January 7th...

With a microphone stuck in his face after leaving the BOS meeting he referred to his future time here as "years".

The following was posted on Geaux Tuscaloosa.

LaFell said he has always trusted Miles, and Saturday was no different for the sophomore receiver.

"[Miles] came and told us like a man that he wasn't leaving," LaFell said. "Since I've been here, he's never lied to me, so I took his word. We all took his word, and we just went out and played for ourselves."

LaFell has two more years of eligibility remaining at LSU. He said continuing to be instructed by the coach who landed him at LSU is meaningful.

"[Miles] is one of the guys that recruited me and brought me in, came and sat in my house and ate with my family," LaFell said. "He means a lot to me. He recruited a lot of good guys, a lot of good players. It means a lot to know that our coach is going to stick behind us. His alma mater is offering him a good job, but hey, he's taking the best job down here."

I was kidding, guys. Everyone is latching on to Miles saying "next year" the first few times and not "next season." In the same breath, people think Miles is retarded and can't speak without someone prompting him, but in a split second he is crafty and clever and comes up with that?

Miles said he is staying and he is. I think you might have him confused with another coach if you think he's leaving.

Okay, I'd have to see a video of him singing "I'm stayin at LSU," two forms of government ID, a police officer there to verify the whole thing, four or five of my buddies and Neal taking notes, and Miles's grandma to confirm his identity.

Please keep us post but I wouldn't worry about losing Les. I think the damage is done and cannot be repaired.

I should start by saying I am a Miles supporter and was defending him when all the morons wanted him gone a couple of weeks ago. I hope he doesn't leave and I have tried not to get to worried about all the rumors floating around. The only thing that I find strange is why LSU didn't increase the buyout for Michigan. It seems to me if Miles truly has no intentions of taking the Michigan job (if offered) he would have no problem agreeing to a buyout of 3-5 million. If you have no intentions of leaving it doesn't really matter how high the buyout is. LSU still has to pay him a large sum of money if they terminate him so it would be a good faith gesture on both parties. This is all assuming LSU even brought the issue of Michigan buyout up in contract conversations. Maybe our admin. has so much faith in his word that they are not worried about him leaving.

Reading the responses, I am not the only one that does not think this is over.

Integrity – Miles can coach this team through the BCS MNC Game then leave for Michigan and not violate a thing he said. (Unless someone has a quote that he will be here next season or will not be the next coach at Michigan.)

He has said both of these things on more than one occasion...

Can the man still possibly take the Michigan job...Yes! But his reputation would take one hell of a hit...Nick Saban would be considered the Boy Scout of college coaches by comparison!

I agree. It's been a lot of coachspeak that can be interpreted either way.

If he is actually offered a comparable compensation package from Michigan, I believe he is gone. Just my opinion from watching how uncomfortable he appears talking about the whole situation.

This is what is started to get me A LITTLE worried (I don't really think he will leave).

1. I don't believe he has actually said that he will not leave for Mich and be here next year has he?

2. On the Dan Patrick Show, again he was a little too nostalgic about Mich for my liking (met his wife, had his first child, grew as a coach … blah, blah, blah)

3. No real talk of a new DC (unless I've missed something)

4. Reportedly, Carr has been removed from the search process, and he was the biggest obstacle in the first place.

5. This is what I'm really worried about, what if the reports that LSU gave Les a "take it, or your not coaching in the SEC Champ" are true? Les could say he said the things he did for the good of, and to protect his players.

I think he is GOING TO BE HERE next year, but these are just some of my worries, especially since other than Schiano, Mich hasn’t really looked at anyone, and doesn’t seem to be in a hurry.

What has changed?...He gave his word. I don't see him making the move after he said he would be here. I do not think he us that type of man - he is much different from his immediate predecessor.

Maybe I just worry too much, but I never heard him say anything that wasn't "coach-speak" and could have a few different interpretations.

I'd love to hear him say "I will not coack Michigan next year".

I don't know how they could have told him that. They gave Michigan permission. If they would have not let him coach in the SEC Champ Game, do they fire him and then pay whatever his contract demanded? Look pretty stupid if they did that - relieve a man from a job because he would not sign an extension until he hears from someone that had permission to speak to him.

I suspect the people really involved know a lot more than had been 'leaked' through these 'I am as close to the man as possible' sources.
