Doesn't he make a good bit more than UM would be willing to pay?

Nope, he'll only make 1.8 mil next year.

Razorbacks didn't let this slow them down

Exactly. Michigan can wait for a good coach. Most coachs won't abandon thier team before the season is over.
Yeah .... they have no reason to rush into it. Carr will coach the bowl game, the recruits won't leave and they can wait til after the bowl games and NFL season to see what shakes out.
But doesn't he have an escape clause in his contract for 3 team? .... Notre Dame, Ohio State and MICHIGAN.

Not saying he is leaving, or even would leave. But he is a midwest guy, and I can tell you, I have a midwest wife, and some friends from the midwest, the South is a different place, and many midwesterners don't like it. My wife said she would never live in the south .... go figure.

My wife's friend at the AD in Ann Arbour, told her the same thing. Again she's not at a super high level, so this isn't 100% positive. But she said word around the office was that Grobe has been offered the job. Didn't say anything about accepting it.

She also said Grobe was the top choice of some at the AD. It seemd there were three camps origianlly the Ferentz camp (lead by Carr), the Miles camp, and the Grobe camp.
Another couple things her friend said that seemed interesting.

1. Carr has not been around since Friday morning.
2. A lot of Alums have been calling and stopping by.

Again, have no idea if this is at all related to things that concern us, but it made me think for a while.

I have heard that Martin could be pushed out of the search.

My wife has a friend in the Athletic Dept. up in Ann Arbour (nothing top level or anything), but they were talking today and apparently people in the Dept. are under the impression that the President has taken over the search and is sitting in on all calls and interviews.

Not sure what that all means.

I think it will help if he wins the Natl Champ...I really don't think Michigan could come close to his deal then.

If he decides to leave (which I still don't think will happen) I don't think MICh will have to match the money dollar for dollar. I bet 2.75 mil would do it. If he leaves it will be because of his heart not the money. (That being said he won't leave for 1.5 mil)
The way they conduct a search, I think the pecking order is:

1. Miles
2. Miles
3. Miles
4. Miles
5. Miles
6. Is Bo still alive?
7. Miles
8. Miles
9. Hoke
10. English
That would be great if they just hired a coach. I'd feel a lot better.

What has changed?...He gave his word.

Maybe I just worry too much, but I never heard him say anything that wasn't "coach-speak" and could have a few different interpretations.

I'd love to hear him say "I will not coack Michigan next year".
I'm tired also, but it looks like there might be an offer on the tables to Les.

He has said both of these things on more than one occasion...

This is what is started to get me A LITTLE worried (I don't really think he will leave).

1. I don't believe he has actually said that he will not leave for Mich and be here next year has he?

2. On the Dan Patrick Show, again he was a little too nostalgic about Mich for my liking (met his wife, had his first child, grew as a coach … blah, blah, blah)

3. No real talk of a new DC (unless I've missed something)

4. Reportedly, Carr has been removed from the search process, and he was the biggest obstacle in the first place.

5. This is what I'm really worried about, what if the reports that LSU gave Les a "take it, or your not coaching in the SEC Champ" are true? Les could say he said the things he did for the good of, and to protect his players.

I think he is GOING TO BE HERE next year, but these are just some of my worries, especially since other than Schiano, Mich hasn’t really looked at anyone, and doesn’t seem to be in a hurry.

I'm real tired too! damn tired. But undestand this point & this is the point: tOSU through Kirk Herstreit owns/controls decision making at ESPN/ABC these days. They could/are (I said possibly) are working behind the scenes to keep this fire burning between Les and Michigan as long as they can. It creates a distraction

What was that???

how many years ago are we talking here? Before Miles met his wife? I hope so....

It was Moellers wife, and Les was also married at the time.
If Michigan names one of thier coordinators as an "intrem" coach then I know that Miles is gone after next season. You can't turn down your dream job twice (see: Roy Williams)
Just to be fair, no one has actually turned down the job, because no one has been offered the job.
