Wondering if we were straight up outbid or if Riley just parlayed the reported $12M we offered into $15M from USC. Do you think SW would've gone to $18M/$20M or whatever if asked?

Not my money, so IDGAF. Just seems weird that, given his history, SW would let the price tag stop him from getting his target.

Having said that, it's still hard to comprehend that LR is getting a contract worth around 2x Saban's.

A random guy posted it on the OU 247 board and then it was posted to the LSU 247 board. I assume that's where it all started. Someone read the board and regurgitated it on the radio.

I've only been on TD today, so I guess it was here? My bad if info is incorrect--I just remembered reading that number somewhere. Maybe in the comments under a post by Larry?

He was already being paid 7.6 million. I don't think that's enough of a pay upgrade to rebuild USC.

Riley didnt want OU joining SEC. His agent most likely started rumors in the media about the figures and Hermaned USC into giving a larger contract. Right out of the Sexton playbook.

You don't know if he really was even offered the position. This has been tight lipped and lots of hearsay but no real info. Woodward more than likely has landed his top choice weeks ago.

Pretty sure I saw it on twitter and another message board from a non LSU source. This was before it was mentioned on here.

Doesn't make it true, but that is the number I saw elsewhere.

Agents absolutely work for their clients BUT if everything I read here is even MOSTLY true, riley and his agent would have soured numerous relationships.

What makes sense to me -

Riley’s USC deal was done weeks ago

Woodward reached out to Riley’s agent. Response was riley loves OU and isn’t interested. Follow up was, ‘how much interest for $12 million?’

Riley’s agent leaks LSU interest AND agent runs with it too… It works for Riley and his agent that OU believe that Baton Rouge is calling.

Riley was not coming to LSU but under different circumstances he might have.

Money wouldn’t have mattered. According to ESON sources, USC sold Riley on way of life in Southern California, and a “clear” path to the playoffs. Clear meaning easy. Then, he will hopefully compete with Alabama, Ohio St.

Let me ask this....Would you take $12mill to go to Baton Rouge or $15mill to go to California.

You come out nearly the same after taxes, I'm guessing. Rich people are insulated from the crappy parts of California and the politics.

It is a beautiful place, awesome weather, and enticing. Look I hate CA politics and wouldn't live there because of politics, taxes, and communist running the state but the rich are primarily not affected by that and are insulated.
Let USC overpay, I'm actually glad LSU isn't paying him $12million.
