Brings back terrible memories of Fisher and Herman. Rumors real and fake…

So much money and resources and absolutely no sense at all.

We wound up getting the greatest season ever from a coach we were paying $4M to. Didn’t end up too bad after all.

Joe Alleva knew how to frick up a hire.

Also reminds me of Tennessee’s Greg Schiano fiasco

I gotta say I’m happy with how that “fiasco” panned out.

Sounds like the coaching search has turned into a AD search, if all of this fiasco leads to Ross Bjork getting canned I'm not sure it wasn't worth it in the end.

Well 40 million if you add his salary after 2019 plus buyout

But still worth it for 2019

It isn’t a debacle until the hire is made. The last Alabama coaching search looked like a debacle (publically turned down by Saban [initially] and RichRod) until they made the best hire in the history of college football.

What about Lucci? HE should reap it for his role in this fiasco, too.

It’s a hell of a lot more exciting than anything that happens on the field for our fanbase

The melt on texags is fricking great...

Now consider the magnitude of that. Think of how many other big name coaches laughed at us before we had no other choice at a somewhat recognizable name than Stoops. So where does that leave us? We have been completely embarrassed to the entire nation, once again, as a result of this debacle. I think this is a "cold water to the face" moment for most of us. This job is nowhere near as elite or attractive as what we thought it was. I don't even thinks it matters much at this point who we hire. It's never going to change.

quote:

No matter how incompetent we think Bjork may be, there is no way that Stoops was his first choice. No effing way. He's the only one willing to come.

quote:

There isn't an AD in the country who would CHOOSE Stoops over DeBoer, Lanning, Day, Dabo, etc. not one. None of the others were interested. He was the only one willing to accept.

Not sure what the debacle is. Lots of internet rumors.

Is that your definition of a debacle?

It's pretty telling how Lucci is having to get his info from UK insiders about the hire don't you think? Not sure what you expect A&M to do publicly but it appears he's been cut off from his "inside sources".

That AD at A&M sure seems cocky. It might be a good thing if he gets knocked down a notch or two.
