I get the current sentiment is that Woodward fricked up with BKs contract, but is why is a governor of a state bad mouthing a schools AD in public.

Good thing Louisiana has a reputation for good governance and selfless service. There’s no way this will lead to backstabbing and self-dealing with a shitshow of a search.

Landry has plenty of actual issues that he should be focused on and let the AD and the university handle theirs.

We’re headed back to the days when the good ole boys ran LSU football spearheaded by Charles Cusamano in the back of Phil’s Oyster Bar in New Orleans.
If I’m Kiffin, Brohm, Lanning, Freeman, or any top notch coach, I’m running like hell in the opposite direction from the LSU job.
Watch: we’ll end up with Orgeron returning on a bargain basement contract and Jethro Landry will crow “We changed the way to do business!”
And the other big programs will just laugh and keep doing it the way they’ve always done it.
Good luck LSU with the AD from McNeese who will be nothing but a puppet.

The statement about the taxpayers is just a populist statement to fire up the voters. He knows the money for the next HC will come from private donors...just like the money to buy BK out did/will.
The bigger issue is that he confirmed what anyone with logical thinking ability already knew...there is no captain of the ship in terms of the search. The firing of BK, though not unjustified based upon the performance, was totally reactionary. They didn't have some predetermined plan on what to do after that. The only plan was to fire BK.
That's fine...until you realize he has to be replaced and the group of knuckleheads trying to run the show have, at the moment, ZERO plan of how that is going to be done...other than try to get Saban back to LSU because he is the only name the entire fanbase would agree upon.
