Richt had talent to work with at Miami too.

You really want to compare The LSU job to a job where they have bottom of the barrel facilities and 3 major in state schools competing for talent?

I think too many LSU fans are underselling CEO because they want the flavor of the month. Tom Herman is a great coach, don't get me wrong. But fit wise, CEO is pretty strong as far as LSU head coaches.

Name all jobs that if they came open today, Coach O would garner top 3 consideration.

Jimbo Fisher's record without Winsont: 44-15 (.745)

Mind you Les Miles' record the past 4 years (which is why everyone wanted him fired) was 37-14 (.725) against what many consider to be a much tougher schedule.

I'm not sold.
Please name me all the head coaches who have a better winning % in the same amount of time. BTW, that removes Tom Herman because he's only coached 19 games in his career. So, find me any coach not named Nick Saban, Jim Harbough, or Urban Meyer that has won more games in the last 4.25 years than Jimbo Fisher.

I'll hold your breath while you look...

If he does great like willing 7 or 8 games and beating Bama, why wouldn't you hire him? Because of what happened over a decade a go? How does that make sense?
Because he hasn't proven he can run a program for more than 9 weeks (in your scenario)??? There are tons of interim coaches who've turned things around quickly. That doesn't mean that he can sustain success long-term. There are other coaches who have already proven at other schools that they can win 65% of their games as head coach over the course of multiple seasons.

shite if he goes 6-2 and we strike out on Herman and Jimbo he is who I want.

If Miles had stayed and gone 6-2 with this same team, would you still want him? Why would we set a lower standard for a guy who is going to replace him? We need an upgrade and a detail oriented coach. O is a great interim but i think when the newness and excitement wear off, he'll be average.
He'd be a Mike Archer type hire.

Remove your anger from the situation

I carry no anger...towards football or just life in general, homie.

I really liked Les as a coach and a person, and was on his support team until Harris threw the pic against Wisky. All I can say is that some of his faults had really grown tiresome, and that is why some of the changes CEO is implementing, while simple in theory, seem goddamn REVOLUTIONARY!!

hmm...who recruited Winston, who developed Winston, who called the plays for Winston?

Jimbo did all of that.

Gene chizik also won a national championship with Cam Newton, that doesn't mean I want him as a head coach.

Same with Sumlin and Manziel.

I'm not comparing jobs. Only the situations. Just saying that Richt wouldn't be winning right now if there was no talent.

This is such an illogical thought process though. Jimbo has shown he can develop qbs, so him having another Winston like QB is very possible. Hell, this current freshman qb is pretty damn good. It is his defense that is the dumpster fire this year, not his offense

If he wins 6-8 games this year, I would think he would garner top 3 consideration at a lot of the potential openings this year. If you do it once, it could be a fluke. You do it twice, you are not the coach that went 10-27 at Ole Miss a decade ago.

Chizik and Sumlin have had 1 good player. Jimbo has had way more success than either of those guys, GTFO.

Can he go toe to toe with Saban every year and beat him 40-60% of those games? I don't know, but I don't see the evidence and not sure if we will even find out this year.

Even with CEO/Lane Kiffin, Saban will probably adapt and we will be back in the same position we're in now.

But pretty much none that have beaten Alabama, Stanford, Ole Miss, @Florida, @Arkansas, and @A&M in their last 11 (edit) games. Maybe he can't sustain success long term but you are crazy not to take a chance that he can with those kind of wins.

Edit: That would be at least two top 5 wins. Herman is my top pick right now but his resume isn't as good as that.

Great, bring him back as OC/QB coach, since he has proven that he isn't the greatest at running a program.

Who has been better? Literally, the only person better than Jimbo in the last 6 years is Nick Saban. Let that sink in and then come back with your stupid retort.

Jimbo was 31-10 with EJ Manuel as his QB. What other elite player has Jimbo groomed as a head coach?
