He was 10-25. Which is really, really bad. That said, if he were to win out (which is a long shot but we are talking about possibilities), he would be a game under .500 all time, which would be frankly amazing given where he started.

I think too many LSU fans are underselling CEO because they want the flavor of the month. Tom Herman is a great coach, don't get me wrong. But fit wise, CEO is pretty strong as far as LSU head coaches.

honestly he is a no brainer if he proves himself to me. pay him scale and give him a blank check on coordinators.

A game under .500? Sounds like a winner!

shite if he goes 6-2 and we strike out on Herman and Jimbo he is who I want.

Your momma could go 6-2 with this team. BDP could go 6-2 with this team. Interim wins mean nothing.

When you start 15 games under .500, it kind of does.

Are we trying to get QBs drafted in the first round or win championships here?

You said you want someone that can go head to head with Saban, I'm not sold that Jimbo can do that. Frankly, I'm not sold that any realistic candidate can do that.

He'd be a Mike Archer type hire.

That ain't average, bro.

It was giving the job to a player favorite who hadnt really proven anything and was a cheap and easy hire, just like O would be.

You're right. Jimbo has never won a championship.

Coach O has won that interim national title though

didn't stop a high school coach from making it a decent program.

If we are going to hold one 7-5 stretch from Jimbo against him, why can't we hold the ole miss games against Oregeron? How does that make any sense? That is the definition of recency bias

Well, obviously he made them look better in COLLEGE than most of them turned out in the pros, so I'd say that would be beneficial to LSU.

I'm not advocating for coach O over Jimbo, I'm simply stating that I have reservations about Jimbo.

Amen. Jimbo is a solid coach but I bet if you asked anyone on this board to bet their house he goes 2-1 vs Saban the next three years and they wouldn't take that bet. His comments from yesterday about RPOs wreek of a guy who thinks it's his way or its not really football, and he would just as soon take his ball and go home.

I've said it a couple times on here, hire Jimbo and your ceiling is a playoff run every four or five years when he puts all the pieces together, with no guarantee he'll win it. I personally think if you've made up your mind O isn't gonna get the job then swing for the fences and take a chance on a guy who could potentially do better.

Agreed. We need to go all in on Herman. He's the best prospect to be the next Saban. I love Coach O but settling for him as HC is just going to land us in another coaching search in 4-5 years, but worse off. This is a critical hire for a program on the brink of going back to mediocrity, and we have to make a good hire.
If Herman goes to Texas, then we go after Jimbo or another established winning coach at a middle tier school. Somebody who is detail oriented, can gameplan and outcoach an opponent, and has been doing well with lesser talent. Would love if could keep Aranda and O on staff.

Who has been better? Literally, the only person better than Jimbo in the last 6 years is Nick Saban. Let that sink in and then come back with your stupid retort.
Look, Jimbo's style of winning is so similar to Miles it's scary. Check out 2014, 13-1 right? SEVEN of those wins were by one score! They could have easily lost SEVEN GAMES. And those SEVEN one-score games were against the likes of a 7-6 Okie St team, a (10-3) Clemson team that lost to every ranked team they faced, 8-5 ND, a 6-7 Miami team, 7-6 BC, and 7-5 Florida. Is it any surprise they got blown out when they finally faced a good team in Oregon?

Some might say Jimbo finds a way to win, but it looks to me that he finds a way to not lose. Which is what Miles did here for a decade.
