ULL fires Lotief by LSULEFTY
Better known as the "human rain delay" in college softball circles. That dude could bring a halt to a softball game.

bullshite. The softball team has better facilities than a lot of baseball teams around the country, let alone other softball programs.

He tried to get them a trainer to attend practices and to have the grass cut on a regular basis. The men get that. Title IX is scary sometimes. This is one of those times.

I hear the shite is about to hit the fan with this story. Lawsuits, transfers, more firing, etc.

That's what Lotief is saying. You going to take his word 100%?
Also, how hard is it for one of the asst coaches for the softball team to hop on a lawn mower and cut the grass of a field that has an all dirt infield and only 190 foot fences in the outfield? Probably takes 15 minutes.

I don't think you understand the Title IX rules are not suggestions or good ideas. They are required and ignoring them comes with a heavy price.

Apparently many are saying it. I haven't heard anybody question the truth of his statements.

Hendersonshands pointed out that ULL has one of the top softball facilities in the country. I've been told that just last year the university added improvements to the complex, and yet this year the old man is back demanding more out of the administration?
Just because you cry "title IX" doesn't mean the university is guilty of it.
You know, a stripper once claimed an entire college lacrosse team raped her. You can't always believe the accuser.

The coach has retained 2 attorneys. We will find out who is telling the truth.
ETA: I will also admit that I do not know what the truth is and do not have a dog in this fight.

The coach is an attorney himself, and they know the buzz words to get the public on their side:
title IX
gender equity
poor softball girls don't get as much as the men's football

actually, he is just demanding they provide the same services to softball the baseball team gets and did not go public about this until after he was put on administrative leave.

No, but I think there is a history to suggest it's not far fetched.

Right, and a university president and AD once claimed they had no knowledge of children being assaulted in the athletic facilities. You can't always believe the administrators either.
Ultimately, it will all come out. Unfortunately, it will likely be to the detriment of the University and softball program. Poorly handled by at least one of the parties, possible (maybe I should say probably) both regardless of the outcome.
ETA: Quoting Hangit though as an alum I kinda do have a dog in the fight in a sense

Good on you. I hope things all work out quickly. I mainly hope things work out for the kids. They committed to a situation that is now drastically changed.
While we are all dreaming, I hope they all get STEM degrees.
Good luck baw.

I have no arguments there.

Players locked out of Lamson
What in the hell is going on? I get locking up the gates, but you tell the players when it is going to be locked and have an Admin there to watch it then lock it.

Can players even transfer now?

Sooooo..... don’t see this mentioned anywhere. Do they try to lure Allison Habetz back home? Take her from the gumps?
Had a discussion last night about this with some buddies. Most of which are from the Acadiana area. Habetz was the real deal....

Not if the coach is fired (grad transfers excepted). Otherwise we'd also need the Player Transfers Board.
Now if they decide to terminate the whole program then yes, everyone would be immediately eligible. But if they do that, and don't also end a men's program, you think they have Title IX problems now?

Bad move on locking the gate. Whoever decided that was a good idea needs to get his arse chewed!
Reading the University’s reasoning about why it was locked reminds me of the saying, “we are judged by our actions and not our intentions.”

Per athlete softball players are funded close to $30k a year. Baseball players are at roughly $21k per athlete a year.
Softball receives about $60k less per season in funding than baseball but brings in about $300k less in revenue.
Lotief was fired with cause. The university failed to issue a statement promptly enough. Lotief released the Title IX threat to steer the public opinion.

The guy is and always has been an enormous prick. I'm surprised it took this long for his mouth to finally get him fired. Good riddance to the POS!
