Harrell still runs pretty much the classic Leach air raid.

It looks next to nothing like what Gundy, Riley, or even Kliff are doing at this point in the progression.

A collaboration of offensive coaches getting together over the course of a few offseasons and both get better. I would say they both got something out of it and implemented it.

Did LSU learn exponentially more than the Saints? Absolutely. But to think the Saints took nothing from those meetings, is just not wanting to believe it.

Surprised I haven't heard more people throwing his name out there. No idea what his prospects are but seems like he could be worth considering.

I want someone who is adaptable and willing to work to learn new plays, schemes, and exploits. Like how Brady watched every single NFL game each week and implemented plays in the offense. Or like Sark who can seamlessly change from a spread RPO to a pro-style, play action offense. I don’t want the next Mike Leach who will run the same plays every week regardless of whether they are working. I don’t know enough about Harrell to judge him, but that’s what I want.

if I was coach O.....I'll hire Sark. LSU pay 2 mil, I'll thrown in another mil to get him here. That way, I can keep
my job for a few more years.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for! I try not be negative if it’s the guy we’re gonna get.

Funny how LSU and Saints coaches spend more time together in the off season and the weaknesses in each teams offense drastically improves.

Harrell is an Air Raid offense. They put up numbers but I cannot remember any major success from that style.

I think you gotta go with a Spread/RPO combo, that’s what Brady did last year. With a guy like Max where he can run, hand off, or throw quickly Calloway seemed to be dialing a lot of that in the last couple games, he did leave Os side! Bring back Munoz as PGC, which is basically a QB coach who briefs Max throughout the week on how to pick up on and adjust to the opponents D. An Air Raid is stupid, we don’t have the OL for it and it might help Myles, but does nothing for Max

Freaking Munoz ? They guy who has been fired the last 2 times he was more than an analyst? Callaway is also a way better QB coach

And most every dynamic offense today has air raid concepts

Everyone wants what the Saints have: Spread them out, throw it around the field at will, but also utilize the running game when you need to. Pro-style offense. All Air-Raid ain’t gonna work, all read option ain’t gonna work. They both have their uses and are good to win a few games, but not championships. You need to both run & pass.

These are college players with college time restrictions on practice. What you want is a fantasy and we've tried to implement this type of shite before and all it does is frick with the rhythm of the offense. You can't make things too complicated or everything is going to be bogged down by complexity like Canada's offense.

Stop living in the 2000s, the game is a passing game now. You must be a very good passing team or you won't sniff any success.

The nick Saban era of Ball control pound it on the ground and defense is dead. It's over. The game has evolved far beyond that.

I don’t have problems with air raid concepts, but Harrells run game is garbage, he runs the classic Leach Air Raid, and after us look how well Miss St did with it. I liked Briles’ Veer and Shoot for the Big12, but we ain’t playing those D’s whose CB are 15 yards off the line.
Munoz was a great asset in 2019, he knows Brady’s system. Calloway knows Air Raid concepts, but doesn’t seem to be as married to them as Harrell. Calloway also has a rapport and greater understanding of our personell. I didn’t like what I saw out of E and Linehan this year, but the last couple games with Max I believe Calloway was calling a lot of shots. If so, I’d like to ride with him and Max in ‘21!

Does it matter? LSU could hire Sean McVay at OC for minimum costs and there will be at least 30% of this board absolutely melting down because his wife is too hot and it would take away his attention from calling the plays between the 50 and the 30. Because his stats were awful with the Florida Tuskers in 2009 as a quality coach.

When a hire is made, on both sides of the ball, half of this board will love it and the other half will dig into every single play call made in their history to prove that it’s not a good hire.

Brady’s system isn’t unique
Most of these offenses are using the same base concepts and then tailoring it to their talent
Brady had a good feel for play calling then had straight studs running it

There is nothing wrong with LSU’s current offense, generally. There is room for improvement, but most of that will come from experience and execution.

The desire to hire Calloway is based in the want for continuity. Brady and E coached together in 2019. E and Calloway coached in 2020. Right or wrong, there is a belief that Calloway knows the offense LSU has been running for two years and will keep it going with less of a learning curve.

Orgeron gets a lot of deserved criticism, but he had a solid plan to bring in a great offense and keep the continuity going. Brady just left too quick.

I believe he expected Brady to be around a few years and Ensminger would be the bridge to the next guy.

Under this scenario, Calloway would be that guy.

Briles? Runs his own variant of the air raid offense and likely isn't an option with his Title 9 history and our issues.

The Briles variant involves a lot more running.

Phil Longo is another guy who seems to have figured out how to add a run game to an elite passing attack. #6 scoring offense, #19 passing offense #10 rushing offense. Had success at Ole Miss.
