Would he make the jump to the SEC or hold out to see if Ryan Day scratches an NFL itch.

I don’t think he was interested in LSU or Florida last year. I seriously doubt he’d leave for a second tier school like ole miss.

Cincinnati is a better job than Ole Miss.

Like Cincinatti playing Ole Miss in Oxford?

That's the only way Fickell ends up at Ole Miss. He won't be at Cincinatti forever, but he's not leaving to go to Oxford.

No chance in hell he has stayed at Cincy just to take the Ole Miss job

The difference between last year and now is since then:

Passed over at ND
Harbough didn't get an NFL job
Ryan Day seems less interested in trying the NFL.

None of his Big 3 jobs will be open for a while. Maybe he's now open to leaving because of that - get SEC experience to be more enticing to those jobs when they eventually open back up.

Whether he's interested at all in Ole Miss or not I have no idea. But I could see how he'd be open to leaving Cinci this year when he wasn't last year.

No it’s not. The big 12 is a joke, evidenced by how many people aren’t taking TCU seriously as a threat to win a natty

Kiffin has shown a good coach can win at Ole Miss. Y’all don’t want to admit it but y’all were scared of losing to Ole Miss the last couple seasons.

Fickell would make Ole Miss a consistent threat to win the West

I don’t think he makes the jump. He has scruples.

I don't pretend to know what he would do, he'd be an upgrade over Kiffin.

Fickel would be a terrible fit. He’s a Midwest yankee and the grind that is SEC recruiting would result in a similar fate to Harsin.

Ole Miss has $10M for NIL and Cinci has like zero.

So no.

Hearing about him might be going to Nebraska.

There’s no way to know that without seeing how he recruits after moving to the SEC, because being a great coach isn’t enough here. He’s done well for G5 at Cincy, but that’s not enough to know what he would do going head to head with the SEC West.

I have been hearing his name for the Nebraska job. That isn't a bad move if he takes the job.
