I don't think you're necessarily disagreeing with each other, we have all the brick and mortar infrastructure you would ever need, but to your point our boosters are dumb and egotistical and want to run the show. The one encouraging thing about this so far is it seems like there's some process to it instead of 3 or 4 boosters (or less) getting together and saying "that's our guy". We will see how it shakes out.

I just can’t imagine having no national championships since 1939.

Really makes you appreciate what our program has accomplished

You mean be the only P5 school in a football talent rich state?

If you're a coach, does this really draw you in, or does it keep you away?

well it definitely wouldn't help with recruiting unless you offered players SIGNIFICANTLY more money than other programs.

Behind the scenes there are a boatload of coaches that would love the job.

Less than you think. The boatload, coaches you wouldn’t want on your campus.
When the money folks get too involved, not good.
Some see this job for what it is.
Many coaches are fine just where they are. It’s not as easy as you think pulling a coach out of a job he has set.
If a coach is winning good at a school, why move. If he moves, what coaches move with him, how many does he have to keep from the previous staff? He might have to fill a complete staff, support staff, S&C Staff. Has this coach ever had to build from the ground up.

Jimbo took over Fla St with a Head Coach in Waiting title.

Kelly had little to work with as for players, completely redoing everything. He had the full support from the AD.

Sumlin replaced Mike Sherman, Sherman left it in better shape than most.

So much more to this equation.

Atm has a culture problem. In the middle of bumfrick nowhere, dried up town, with bizarre traditions that I’d expect less of a tribal cult community tripping on lsd.

You’re already at a disadvantage recruiting wise. Why would a coach follow? If he’d turn things around, it’d immediately open up ncaa investigations because how in the hell would that happen?

Edit/ should have kept Summlin, reached your peak. As much as I hate UT Austin, daddy’s ready to babysit going forward at the SEC’s expense.

Do we need to point you to the SECRant? You appear lost, in this post and in general.

It happens. I love mocking the Aggies but I also remember when LSU went almost 50 years without a championship. We should definitely appreciate the last 20.

And if I’m being honest, I don’t think Jimbo was the problem.

I think the kids that you paid so much money for were just not able to cope with the bizarre culture there, and they had no intensity/nothing worth caring for anymore to play well after that kind of pay day for ignoring it all.

This is a team sport so with that mentality, poor morale just compounds forward.

Good luck at the bottom going forward, which is pathetic with a state that rich in talent.

And if you would like to engage in said dick measuring contest, bring it on. I know you’re just an Aggie.

This is actually the best description of the situation I’ve read so far. I also don’t think this was Jimbo and it’s a view prospective names will share as well

He was part of the problem, a small part.
