That awesome Mel Tucker D: allowed 40 points and 594 yards to...Purdue.

After allowing 533 yards and 33 points to Michigan last week.
Was he just out-talented by mighty Purdue as well?
And keep in mind, his MSU defense was already ranked a pitiful 104th heading into this game. And they were equally bad last year. And Colorado's defense was poor the one year Tucker coached there.
This isn't a one game phenomenon. It's the continuation of a long trend. The guy is not a good defensive coach.
Combined with his deplorable history as an NFL DC (ranked bottom 10 six of seven years), his two losing seasons as a college HC, and his complete lack of any consistent success, Woodward would have to be a buffoon to entrust the LSU program to this man.
Next person to claim Tucker is a defensive genius should be executed.

They need to realize all coaches get shitted on.

I think the people who try to compare his resume to Saban's are insane. It's not remotely the same.

Have you seen his overall defensive rankings? Aren't they pretty meh?
He has beaten a total of 1 team with a winning record?
He isn't facing offensive juggernauts.

Sure, one flat game. Going into last weekend LSU’s awful defense was giving up 408.6 yards per game. Michigan state? 406. Since then the fighting Mel Tucker’s have giving up almost 600 yards in two straight games. But sure, let’s call it an isolated incident

My choice would be Aranda..though he lost to a less than average team with an interim coach doesn't eliminate him in my book. Tucker is having an exceptional season relative to his team's actual talent. He is overachieving in a big way
