If bama loses their coach they will wind up with that Bucky guy from Samford which would ultimately be a net positive for bama in the long run.

That’s a pretty big jump.

You have no clue……

Yes, I do when you talk about NIL! That is where Arkansas doesn't compete with Texas! That is why Texas is more appealing than Arkansas. That would be the same for Missouri. Texas has the money for NIL and that is what all the Top programs are doing nowadays. Arkansas has gotten some good players, but it will not last when NIL will be taking away top players from most lesser programs.

If true, unless both coaches are $ driven good luck with that. As of now looks like both coaches are happy where they are.

Muss isn’t going anywhere. Oats, easily could see him going.

Bama promised a new facility that they now are backtracking on. Texas has the facilities, the NIL, the players, and the money.

He can stay at Bama and hope that they deliver on some of the things he wants, or he can go to Texas which already has those things ready for him.

otherwise you've got to consider Bama the superior job.

How so? There is nothing to even come close to justifying this remark.

Bama is playing in a dreary dark arse arena built in the 60’s while UT just built a nice, shiny new facility.
Bama made plans for a new facility then backtracked.
Texas can match Bama in regards to NIL, and probably exceed them.
Texas can match Bama salary wise and probably exceed them there as well.
Conference is a draw since they are both about to be in the same conference.
Texas talent wise right now slightly better than Bama.
Then it comes down to Austin vs Tuscaloosa. Not even a fair fight.

So please, what exactly makes Bama the better job?

Bama isn't even in the same stratosphere as Texas in terms of job quality. Not even debatable.

If Texas is offering better NIL deals why is Bama beating them every year in recruiting since Oats has arrived?

2023: Bama 15th, Texas 23rd
2022: Bama 3rd, Texas 6th
2021: Bama 14th, Texas 83rd
2020: Bama 12th, Texas 103rd

Whatever you want to say, Bama is recruiting at a nationally elite level since Oats has arrived and that wouldn't be possible if the school wasn't highly competitive from an NIL perspective.

I do see a scared Auburn fan that want Alabama to lose its basketball coach to Texas. That is lame!

In football for sure but the Hunts have poured in a ton of money for Arkansas basketball NIL, was one of the factors in getting Nick Smith. Just don’t see Texas investing in basketball like that.

I don't see Muss jumping from Arkansas unless a premium NBA job opens up. On the college front- Only UCLA/Kentucky I think would pull him.

IMO he would get eaten alive at a place like Bama. TBH I think Bucky's best path is the smaller, wealthy private school route. It's the only bball environment he's been exposed to, as both a coach and player.

He'd kill it at a Davidson or a Richmond, and will get an excessively long leash to make it work. Then from there, he can look at a Vandy or Wake if he wants to.

I’ve watched his team play a few times this year. He’s a very good coach and I liked him when he was at Kentucky.

He’s up in years though and he may not coach much longer.

It would be a great short term hire.

NW Arkansas is a pretty part of the country. It has some huge corporations located in the area. But I suspect, as an Arkansas fan, you would agree Arkansas athletics is likely one of the biggest things in the area. I doubt Musselman could go anywhere in NW Arkansas without being recognized. And Arkansas basketball probably is VERY important to the people in the area. With great investment from the community comes great expectations...and great criticisms when those expectations aren't being met.

Austin is a big (and growing) city. One that is very diverse in interests of the populace. Yes, UT sports is a big draw. But the interest in football will always dwarf basketball. There would be pressure on the basketball coach to perform. But I suspect the HC of the team could live his life in the community without tons of attention on he and his family. Like any college town, the HC of the major programs are often the biggest "celebrities" in the town. That wouldn't be as much the case in Austin for Musselman as it is in Fayetteville. THAT would be the draw for he and his family because in pretty much every other aspect Arkansas basketball can compete with Texas basketball on the court.

Nolan won a natty and was fired but still lives there. Arkansas folks aren’t hero worshippers or haters who would attack a coach in public. They can live their lives amongst friendly folks instead of some snobby arse shithole and still have good family life and successful program.

texas just sucks in general but it’s a good place to find a job though, I’ll give them that.
