I can't find the exact quote, but when he took the Minnesota job, he said he was attracted by the challenge of restoring a program and building a culture. He openly talked about getting Minnesota back to the Rose Bowl before ever coaching a game there.

Tennessee has been down for a while, so the thought of bringing them back to prominence likely intrigues him. He also probably figures he'll be given time to do things his way, given the looming threat of sanctions. A better job may not offer as much patience.

Yeah I can I understand why someone would view Tennessee as a great restoration project opportunity

I'm honestly surprised Tennessee nutted up, forced Fulmer out and hired an AD who knows what the frick he's doing. If PJ Fleck is hired then Tennessee will be in good shape in 3-4 years once the NCAA bullshite is over

Being told "you have 5 years guaranteed." And that you can build the program from the ground up in your image has to be enticing for a guy with Fleck's personality

The ncaa is not handing out the Bama, usc type sanctions anymore. Ole miss barely got any punishment.

Tennessee is a sleeping giant. We'll see if this is the guy.

It’s crazy how some idiot on a message board thinks he knows it all..Fleck is a monster recruiter bruh! But that’s the difference in me and you...I’m not gonna call it one way or the other but Fleck can definitely recruit. The best recruiters in CFB are the ones that have the most resources to “cheat”..everybody does it, just some are better at it and don’t get caught.

that's bc you don't understand the goal is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Tennessee can pay plenty of $$$$$$$$$$$$4. If he wants to leave in a year of two he can without making any less than if he had waited.

If Fleck terminates his contract with Minnesota, he’d owe the school the following termination fee:

$4.5 million from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021

Does the buy out money come from the screw Pruitt fund

Meh, Fleck doesn't seem to be driven by money. If he was, he wouldn't have been waiting around until late January for a bigger job to open up. Tennessee didn't even have an opening a week ago.

Hell, he probably wouldn't have jumped to Minnesota when he did either. If you recall, it looked like Fleck was staying at WMU for another year until Minnesota decided to fire Claeys in January. That too was a desperate program in need of a culture change.

I still don’t see any evidence that this is true. Not even sure he would be interested.
